A Message from Mr. Dolce A Message from Mr. Dolce

Welcome Back, South Davis Families.

I know many folks traveled last week. I heard some great stories of places visited and adventures had. I trust that the plane, train, and automobile trips were uneventful in a good way. Whether you left 716 or not, I hope last week provided you with some time to rest and recharge, connect with family and friends, and celebrate meaningfully.

I want to shout out to three 5th grade students - Charlotte, Maddelyn, and Violet. With guidance from Mrs. Pietrantone, the three girls have created a number of videos for our SDTV morning announcements that illustrate the way we want everyone to SHINE here at South Davis. Whether it's on the bus, in the Cafeteria, or in the hallways, there are expectations for kind, respectful, and appropriate behavior, and the messages these students have developed are great reminders for all of us. Well done!

Speaking of SHINE, this month we are focused on Instilling Kindness. Your children know many ways to show kindness, and I'm sure they'd be happy to join you in a dinner-table or carpool conversation about all the ways we can show kindness at home and at school.

Have a great week!

Mr. Dolce

The Spare Change for Stories is almost over!

This year, PTO wants to help provide a lasting memory for the students of South Davis by providing every child at South Davis a book by author Troy Cummings, that will include a signature!

We'll be sorting and counting all the donations in the coming days, and we are so excited. As an added incentive, as we make our goal, whichever monster has collected the most spare change, Mr. Dolce will dye his hair that color!

OPCSD Board Report

Spring Clean Out!

We are gearing up for our annual Spring Clean Out!

In partnership with the Wesleyan Church of Orchard Park, we’ve been collecting new and gently used clothing for families in the Orchard Park community. The church has generously transformed one of their buildings at 6779 Powers Road, Orchard Park into a fully stocked clothing closet. A wide range of sizes is available year-round during scheduled hours, which can be found on the Family Solutions Center website. This resource has made a meaningful impact.

As this is a district-wide initiative, we encourage everyone to participate in the effort. Donations can be dropped off at any time at the Powers Road location in the bin located behind Busy Bee Hall, where the clothing closet is housed. In addition, volunteers will be available on May 12 from 4:00–6:00 PM. For those who find deadlines motivating, this is a great opportunity to plan ahead and contribute.

If you’ll be home during April break, it’s the perfect time to do some spring cleaning and gather items to donate. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and thank you in advance for your continued generosity in supporting our Orchard Park community.
