The information included in these briefs is not intended to be complete and does not replace official Board minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Adoption of Textbooks: World Languages French - Approved

The Board approved the adoption of Chemins: French for a Connected World textbooks and curricular resources published by Vista Higher Learning. The six-year adoption of these resource materials includes student textbooks, online licenses, and teacher materials.

International Mother Language Day Poster Contest



Each year the Upper Darby School District hosts an art contest marking International Mother Language Day in celebration of the diversity of culture, rich traditions, and multilingualism of our students, families and community. This year’s poster content winners were recognized at this month’s school board meeting. Congratulations to our elementary, middle, and high school recipients!


Elementary Winners:

  • First Place: Mohaimin Al Araab - 2nd Grade (Bywood)

  • Second Place: Alesa L. Um - 4th Grade (Primos)


Middle School Winners:

  • First Place: Nuha Rashid - 8th Grade (BHMS)

  • Second Place: Carla De La Cruz - 8th Grade (DHMS)


UDHS Winners:

  • First Place - Yoselin Beatriz Cordana Guiterrez

  • Second PLace - Harinder Jeet Rakhra

Read Across America Week

School board members were invited to participate in literacy-rich events activities in schools across the district in celebration of Read Across America Week. We enjoyed doing our part in motivating students to celebrate good reading habits and look forward to next year’s celebration.
