Welcome to Week 6 of the school year! It is hard to believe how quickly the school year is flying by. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure a successful school year for every Astro.

At McNair Middle School, we are Rooted in Excellence because Excellence is the Standard! We remain committed to providing our students with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

A Special Thank You!

A very special thank you to all of our parents who joined us for our Principal’s Chat and Chew! It was wonderful to fellowship with you and have the opportunity to share valuable information about McNair Middle School.

Our parents were able to ask questions, learn more about what is happening at McNair, pop into classrooms, and participate in a school tour. Your time, engagement, and partnership mean so much to us. Thank you for investing in our school community and, most importantly, in the success of our students!

No Vaping at McNair:

Parents, please talk to your students about vaping.

Vaping is not permitted at McNair Middle School. Please have a conversation with your child about the dangers and consequences associated with vaping and remind them that bringing or using vape devices at school is a serious violation of school expectations.

We need your partnership in keeping our students safe and making good choices. Please talk to your student about vaping before they come to school.

School Safety Reminders

To ensure the safety and security of all students and staff:

  • Only clear or mesh book bags are permitted on campus.
  • All book bags must remain in student lockers during the school day.
  • Cell phones must remain secured according to the district's cell phone policy.

Cell Phone Policy Reminder

Please be mindful of our cell phone expectations. Phones that are confiscated may be retrieved from Dr. Cameron Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Please note that phones cannot be retrieved after 4:45 p.m.

Bullying Prevention and Student Conduct

At McNair Middle School, student safety is our top priority.

Let me be very clear: I am not, will not, and do not condone or tolerate bullying, harassment, intimidation, or teasing of any kind.

Bullying is a Tier IV offense and will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include alternative school placement. Any reports of bullying will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

Parents, please take time to review the Student Code of Conduct with your child and discuss the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. Students should understand that their choices have consequences and that every member of our school community deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported.

Together, we can ensure that McNair Middle School remains a place where students can learn, grow, and succeed.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. As always, we are Rooted in Excellence, and Excellence is the Standard!

Have a wonderful and safe Labor Day weekend, and we look forward to welcoming our Mustangs back to school on Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Keenan Cameron

Principal

Ronald E. McNair Middle School's Personal Electronic Devices (PED) Policy

This school year, Ronald E. McNair Middle School is fully implementing the Fulton County Schools Personal Electronic Devices (PED) Policy. Under this policy, all personal electronic devices (PEDs), including but not limited to cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be powered off and stored in students' individually assigned lockers from 8:55 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.

This bell-to-bell PED policy is designed to support a focused learning environment, promote student well-being, and enhance school safety. Limited exceptions are available for students with documented IEP or Section 504 accommodations, verified medical needs, or approved instructional use.

Students who are found in violation of the PED policy will have their devices confiscated and submitted to Principal Cameron for safekeeping. Parents or guardians may retrieve confiscated devices between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Additionally, progressive disciplinary measures will be implemented, including mandatory parent conferences and increased

consequences for repeated violations.

We encourage all families to review the attached flyer for detailed information regarding policy expectations, approved exceptions, and disciplinary procedures. Thank you for your partnership in supporting a safe and productive learning environment for all students.
