Term 3 Week 8 Newsletter

PRAYER
For our challenges, our successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt.
Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith.
Amen
NEWS FROM MRS MCCLUE
Dear Families,
Staffing
Ms Venus Caruso (EMU Teacher) is taking some much deserved long service leave from the end of this term. Mrs Elisa Rigoli will be taking on the Numeracy Support role, in addition to teaching Art, in Ms Caruso's absence.
Interschool Carnival
A very big congratulations to our fabulous Interschool Athletes. The manner in which our students competed and represented OLGC was phenomenal. As a small school, many of our students stepped into additional events and competed above their age category, in addition to their own events. This is such a wonderful display of school spirit and sportsmanship, and makes me very proud of our students. Mrs Hesse, Mrs Pen, Mrs Cochrane and Miss Murphy all attended the Interschool Carnival and reported consistently positive behaviour across the day, from all OLGC athletes. A big thank you to these staff for their hard work on the day, and for Mrs Hesse for her continuing dedication and efforts to our students.
Record Breaker
Special congratulations are extended to Ilaria (Y4) who broke the Interschool record for the Year 4 Girls 100m sprint (Div A) with a time of 14.91. The previous record was also held by an OLGC student from 13 years ago. What an amazing achievement!!
Interschool Carnival Results
Thank you to the OLGC parents for all their support in the lead up to the interschool event, and for their cheering of our OLGC team on the day. It is wonderful to see our school spirit in action!
OLGC Disco
Thank you to our amazing P&F for all their efforts in planning and coordinating the student Disco last week. These events would not be possible without the dedication of these volunteers.
Andrew Chinn
Thank you to Mrs Bennett for organising such a joy-filled, fun incursion with Andrew Chinn. The students had a wonderful time and learnt a broad repertoire of new songs.
Wishing all families and students a very restful holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all again in Term 4, when students commence on Tuesday 8 October.
Many thanks,
Lisa McClue

NEWS FROM MRS BARFOOT
AWE – Assessing Wellbeing in Education
Enhancing the wellbeing of the students within our care is extremely important to us at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Recently, our Years 3 to 6 students participated in a survey titled Assessing Wellbeing in Catholic Education. The survey consisted of scientifically informed questions that assess global wellbeing and school related and component factors underpinning wellbeing which are related and relevant to a school context.
Students were surveyed on global wellbeing, happiness, resilience, health, hope, and spirituality. When asked, "What one thing, more than anything else, makes your school a great place?" the overwhelming response highlighted the strong friendships and meaningful connections with teachers.
The collective results from these surveys will be used to strategically plan wellbeing initiatives across the whole school community to support our students to thrive.
St. Joseph’s (Wyndham) students visit
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible community for the support shown to the visiting Year 6 Wyndham students. They had a fantastic time on their camp, especially enjoying the chance to bond with our Year 6 students at bowling and a lovely ‘Paint and Pizza’ night for the girls. Thanks to our families, their adventures included a visit to Rottnest Island and a trip to RTRFM Radio station!
A special thanks to the families who generously loaned bedding or donated gifts, vouchers, and experiences. Your generosity truly reflects the spirit of our community and is a powerful expression of our Catholic values in action.

Our new season of VacSwim We have recently opened enrolments for the October school holidays and want as many of your families to benefit from the programs as possible. As we head towards summer, a lot of families are starting to get back into the water or planning holidays by the beach, rivers, or swimming pools. We offer programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmers at over 175 locations across Western Australia. I invite you to download the promotional materials on our website to promote VacSwim to your school community. Enrolments are now open, and families can enrol online. For postal enrolments, an enrolment form can be downloaded on our website. We also have translated fact sheets available in multiple languages.
