December is International Human Rights Month
Universal Human Rights Month is celebrated in the United States each year during December. This month is intended to recognize the anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. This has become a month-long world wide recognition.
During this month, people around the world join together to appreciate the basic rights that should be granted to all human beings everywhere, regardless of their race, religion, gender, native language, political inclination, national or social origin, property ownership, economic status, etc.
A great way to introduce this topic is by reading stories with your child. Below are a few recommendations to get you started.

Healthy Habits for December
We know the month of December holds many celebrations for our families and it is an exciting time of year. Below are some daily activities we are suggesting to do this month to keep our minds focused and our bodies healthy. Give them a try!
Every time you complete an activity, you earn a star. Color it in. It's optional for all of our students, but we wanted to give everyone a fun way to stay healthy and have fun as we wind up the last month of the year together.
How many stars can you earn this month? If you choose to complete our calendar and bring back your paper by January 10th, your child will earn ROAR points.
Winter Parties at Primary
We will be celebrating the end of 2024 and the winter season with our Primary class winter parties on Thursday, December 19th. The Head Room Parent from your child's classroom is working closely with the teacher to plan these activities. They will share the information about time for arrival and party times. All volunteers should be scheduled through our Head Room Parents. Reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
Fun Winter Spirit Days Coming Soon! Dec. 16-21st
Winter Weather=5 Points!
Yesterday we had our first taste of winter weather with snow and blowing winds. We will go outside for recess every day during the winter as long as the windchill is above 10 degrees. Research shows that kids who spend more time outdoors are more physically active, and physical activity drives positive health outcomes. "It is not only medically sound, but plain common sense that running around outside in the winter is far more beneficial that being cooped up indoors" -Dr. Michel Cohen, Author and Founder of Tribeca Pediatrics
Doctors note that daily doses of fresh air increase circulation, boost immune systems and promote overall wellness and kids generally sleep better.
To prepare for colder temperatures and snowy fun, all students should come to school with the 5 points. This means a warm coat, hat, mittens, snow pants and boots. Without these items, students will not enjoy their recess time and students without boots and snowpants will not be allowed to play in the snow. Winter can be a fun time for our students, so please send them to school with all of the proper gear. Thank you!
