CCS District Calendars
From Principal Rodriguez
Chromebook and charger returns
This is a friendly reminder that we will be collecting district-issued Chromebooks and chargers to complete the inventory and maintenance process in preparation for the upcoming school year. The collection will take place during English classes on Thursday, May 21st, and Friday, May 22nd.
Thursday, May 21st: 9th and 11th graders will return their Chromebooks and chargers.
Friday, May 22nd: 10th and 12th graders will return their Chromebooks and chargers.
If a student is unable to attend on these days, they may return their devices earlier to Ms. Curry in the Library.
Please note that any devices not returned will be disabled. Seniors who do not return their devices or settle any outstanding fees will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 30th.
Students enrolled in summer school will be issued a new device on the first day of summer school.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a smooth return process as we prepare for the next school year.
Ducks!
The WHS south courtyard ducks are back! Mr. Mitchell and several students helped corral, capture, and release mom and her ducklings along the banks of the Olentangy.
Athletics
From AD Bleikamp
Spring is rolling right along. Our boys volleyball team will participate in the City Championship on 5/11 @ Whetstone vs Briggs at 5:30pm. Congratulations to them! Our Boys Tennis team won the City Championship last week @ Africentric vs Marion Franklin! The baseball and softball teams remain split in the north, meaning that if they win out on league games, a tie-breaker game will be needed to determine who goes to the City Championship. Track will run in the City Championship on May 12th and 14th. As we work through City League Championship season, our teams are making their draws for post-season so be sure to stay in touch with your teams for tournament dates.
College Athlete Signing Day is May 19th. For details and to sign up, visit https://forms.gle/SF832GXAXVUCq8Jb9
Athletic Booster volunteers!
The Athletic Booster Association is looking for a committed volunteer, or group of volunteers, to operate Concessions for the 26/27 school year.
The Athletic Booster Association exists to provide funds and support to WHS Athletics programs. These funds are available to all teams and go directly to benefit WHS Athletes to help 'close the gap' when the school Athletics budget is exhausted. In recent years, the Athletic Boosters have provided uniforms, training and practice equipment, athletic facilities improvements, camp & clinic opportunities for athletes, coach training, and team management technology. This is all made possible by volunteers committed to seeing our Whetstone athletes succeed and have a great experience!
If you are interested in supporting our WHS athletes and would like to find out more information, please contact Jill Langhals (419-348-3709 or jlanghals01@gmail.com).

Arts
studio133 is putting on the sci-fi adventure in our blackbox space for one night only!
“One of literature's most enduring young heroines, Meg Murry, is back -- braces, stubbornness and all. Once again, she's joining forces with Mrs Whatsit, Charles Wallace, Calvin O'Keefe and more to battle the forces of evil so she can rescue her father, save humanity and find herself. In the end, we know two things for sure: 1. Love CAN overcome evil and 2. There IS such a thing as a tesseract. Perfect for schools and theaters with larger casts, this faithful, ensemble-driven adaptation of the beloved novel masterfully retells the story in a fresh and enduring way.”

The Nurse's Office
WHS - Transportation to Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Whetstone Parents: Did you know that there are Nationwide Children’s Hospital doctor’s offices inside several Columbus City Schools? Your child can be seen during school hours for well visits, vaccines and many more services! Unfortunately, Whetstone currently does not have a school-based clinic, but we offer transportation to one! Our students are transported once a month to the NCH school-based health clinic at Columbus International High School. NCH is even working on getting transportation for Whetstone students to be seen at their Fort Hayes clinic where they provide vision services (exams & glasses).
Setting up an appointment requires 2 steps:
1. Alert Nurse Nancy that you are interested in having your child seen at a SBHC so I can arrange transportation from Whetstone High School.
2. Call (614) 355-2590 (option 3) to register for an appointment.
Visit https://www.nationwidechildrens.org/specialties/school-health-services and see the flyer for much more info, and reach out to Nurse Nancy if you have any questions! 614-365-6060.
Release to Return to School after Injury/Surgery - FORM
Parents: Has your child recently had a serious injury or surgery? Are they returning to Whetstone on crutches or in a boot? Will they need special medical accommodations once they return?
If so, it is important to note: Whetstone does not have an elevator and many of our classrooms are on the second floor. And...
BEFORE a student can return to school after surgery or a serious injury, they must complete the form below. All students must be at least toe-touch weight bearing in the affected extremity to return to school safely if on crutches or in a boot. If your student’s doctor deems that it is unsafe for them to use our stairs, I need to know ASAP so that appropriate accommodations can be made. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Nurse Nancy at 614-365-6060 or nhubschman8506@columbus.k12.oh.us.
Our School
WHS Academic Hall of Fame
Students that maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher each quarter this year will be honored at the Whetstone Academic Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:00 pm.

Is your student a budding journalist? If so, good news: the WHS school newspaper is back online and seeking student contributions! Learn more at https://bravesmessenger.com/. Questions? Contact Mr. Smith at dsmith6840@columbus.k12.oh.us.
