Sunset Heights Principal Notes
1.16.2026
We've had a wonderful two weeks back after our two weeks off. Students have returned to school and settled back into their daily routines. It's been good to see everyone reconnecting with classmates and teachers, and adjusting back to the pace of school life. We’re glad to have our students back, and we appreciate the support from families in helping to make this transition a smooth one. Our coat drive has ended and as a school we were able to donate 45 coats to Anton's to be cleaned and distributed to those in need.

Join us for Multicultural Night
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Multicultural Night on January 29th from 4:30–6:30 pm! As part of this event, we’ll be hosting an Ice Cream Social, and we want to ensure we have enough treats for everyone. Thank you to everyone who has already sent in their attendance form—your response helps us plan for a great evening. The form was due today, but if you haven’t had a chance to send it in yet, please return it by Tuesday. We are very excited for this event and appreciate the wonderful level of participation from our school community. We look forward to celebrating together!
Winter Weather Reminder
Please remember to clearly label all your child’s winter clothing—including hats, gloves, boots, and coats—to help us keep track of their gear. When there is snow on the ground, students must bring appropriate snow gear (snow pants, boots, gloves, hats, etc.) if they wish to play in the snow area. If they do not have proper snow gear, they will have to stay on the blacktop or designated dry areas. Also, please note that we go outside for recess as long as the temperature, including the windchill, is above 20 degrees. Dressing your child in layers ensures they stay warm and comfortable during outdoor play! If your child is missing something please encourage them to look in our lost and found, it is growing.
It is "that" time of year....
If your child is feeling unwell, please review our school illness guidelines before sending them to school. Children should stay home if they have a fever of 100°F or higher, are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea, have a persistent cough, or show signs of contagious illness (such as pink eye or untreated strep throat). Students should remain at home until they have been symptom-free—without medication—for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent the spread of illness and keeps our school community healthy. If you have questions about whether your child should attend school due to illness, please contact the school nurse. Thank you for your cooperation!
