Wiggin Street Parent Update

229/308 Roundabout Ribbon Cutting
Better Together
Dear families,
Thank you to everyone who attended Donuts with Grownups last week. The students truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to visit them at school, and they have been talking about it all week. I would also like to extend my gratitude to those who attended the Veterans Day flag ceremony, especially the Veterans. Thank you for your service.
If you haven't already done so, please complete a homework survey for each of your Wiggin Street students. Our staff have begun reviewing the responses and reflecting on how we can better meet the needs of our families.
As the holidays approach, please note the following important dates:
* Kindergarten Gingerbread Play: Evening of December 16th
* Grades 3-5 Winter Program: December 19th (please note this is a change from the previously announced date of December 11th)
Finally, we are pleased to announce that the 229/308 Roundabout is now open following the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday afternoon. Our 5th graders had the opportunity to participate in this historic event. We are all excited about the completion of this project and the improved safety it brings to our families and community.
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff

Food for the Hungry
Wiggin Street will be participating in the annual Food for the Hungry drive from November 18-22. Each class will have a collection box. Students can contribute non-perishable food or monetary donations. The Top 10 items needed for our local pantries include Canned meat, Beef stew/hearty soup, Pasta, pasta sauce, instant potatoes, instant rice, Hot/cold cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit & vegetables.
Though non-food donations are welcome, cash donations are encouraged because $1.00 -- donated is equivalent to $4.56 of buying power through the Mid-Ohio Collective. Checks should be made payable to Food For The Hungry. All donations collected in each school will stay in the community in which they were donated. These students are asked to demonstrate the idea that no one is too young to make a difference and that the community is better when we work together!
As in the past, the classroom in each participating school that contributes the highest number of food items per student will be treated to a pizza party sponsored by Psi Iota Xi.
The top donor from each school will be honored in the Food For The Hungry broadcast at the Knox County Memorial Building on Friday, Dec. 13. The students will be recognized on our live video stream at www.mvnu.tv, as well as on 100.9 FM and 13WMVO, with reports given on WNZR and 93.7 the Super Q.
To learn more about FFTH, donate, or find photos, videos, and more, visit www.FoodForTheHungryCares.org. To volunteer with FFTH, call or text Kathy Brechler at 740-398-2408. The 2023 FFTH Live Broadcast will take place on Friday, Dec. 13 at the Memorial Theater inside the Knox Memorial.
The Tale of the Gingerbread Man
Kindergarten and Third Grade watched the 3rd grade perform when they were in Kindergarten in preparation for auditions.
Save the Date: December 16th
Run, run, as fast as you can to see our Kindergarten classes perform "The Tale of the Gingerbread Man" play! Students should arrive at 6:00 pm on Dec. 16th to get into their costumes. Parents are welcome at that time to proceed to the gym with the performance beginning at 6:15 pm.
There is also an opportunity for older students to watch the play during their dress rehearsal on Dec. 16th at 3:05 pm.
