Picture Retake Day
Picture retake day is November 4th! Picture retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day. Additionally, Geskus welcomes anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. Retake photos automatically replace original photos in school services and the yearbook. If a student chooses to retake their photo, please return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day will and Geskus will replace it at no additional cost.
If this is the first time your student is being photographed, a proof will be delivered approximately 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.
Squishy Toy Safety Concern
We want to make families aware of a potential safety concern involving squishy toys filled with liquid or gel. When these toys are cut, torn, punctured, or broken open, the material inside may come into contact with the skin or eyes. Some of these substances can cause significant skin irritation and, in some cases, chemical burns.
Please remind children that squishy toys should never be cut or intentionally opened. If a squishy begins leaking or breaks, children should avoid touching the contents and notify an adult right away. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
Yearbooks Are Available to Pre-Order!
It is never too early to order your child's yearbook! Yearbooks can be ordered early, so be sure to check out the attached PDF for ordering information and details.
Underground Spirit Week for Staff
Our Underground Staff Spirit Week was a huge success! Our staff had a wonderful time coming together for a week filled with fun, laughter, creativity, and school spirit.
It was a great reminder that school spirit is not just for our students—it is for our staff, too! We are fortunate to have a team that works hard every day for our students and can also take time to have a little fun together.
The Healthy Flock
Flu Season Is Here!
As we head into flu season, we want to help keep our students, families, and staff healthy. A few simple steps can make a big difference in preventing the spread of illness at school.
Please encourage your child to wash their hands often, cover coughs and sneezes with their elbow, and avoid sharing drinks, utensils, or other personal items.
If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home when appropriate—especially if they have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or are not feeling well enough to participate comfortably in the school day. Students should be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
The flu vaccine is also available during flu season. Families can speak with their child’s healthcare provider or pharmacist about vaccination recommendations.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community happy and healthy this flu season!
Notes From The Flock
School Counseling
National Bully Prevention Month - We will be learning about
All the different types of bullying and conflict resolution during
Character Education Classes this month.
First Grade
First Grade has had Buddy Readers from Nute Middle High School joining the first grade! We love having the older students come and spend quality time with our little ones! We have also been studying Patterns in the Sky, including the sun, moon, and stars. Students created a model of the Big Dipper using paper cups, tacks and flashlights!
- Mrs. Hopkins
First graders have been hard at work practicing sounding out words in whole body ways by jumping the sounds they hear and writing the letters out. They have also been working on forming complete sentences and identifying main characters, setting, problem and solution in the books we read. In math we are working on addition and subtraction within 10 and using different strategies to answer word problems. We have been learning about daytime patterns and night sky patterns in science as well as different types of communities, homes and helpers in Social Studies.
-Mrs. Riggio
Second Grade
Second graders have been exploring the theme of change through art, poetry, and stories. Students have been discussing and writing about the changes they observe in artwork and discover in their reading as they develop their skills in writing informative paragraphs. In math, students have been reviewing addition and subtraction strategies and practicing how to solve one-step word problems.

Kindergarten
Our kindergarten students had a wonderful time learning about fire safety during Fire Prevention Week! Students had the opportunity to explore a fire truck, see safety equipment up close, and learn important lessons about what to do in the event of a fire.
A special thank you to our local firefighters for taking the time to visit Milton Elementary School and help our youngest learners understand the importance of fire safety. We are grateful for the time, knowledge, and care they shared with our students!
We are learning that being safe is everyone’s job!
