zoom_out_map

Good afternoon,

Happy Sunday!

This is the LAST week of SCHOOL for the 2024-2025 school year!! How did we get here so fast?? We hope that everyone comes out this week to support our MANY award ceremonies that highlight and showcase our smart, talented, and dedicated students at CGS! All of our students have worked so hard this school year and we are proud of each and every one of them!!

We are slowly getting EOG scores back in this week and your child's teachers will be able to share them with them soon if they haven't already. We will release those into PowerSchool as well hopefully by the end of the week.

Our EOC exams and the last EOG exam is this week.

We want to say THANK YOU for making sure your student was at school and ready to test last week. Our make-up testing list is small and that's due to you making sure your student was at CGS to test last week. Any students that did not take their EOG exam will be making theirs up this week. We will try to work around fun events, but testing is mandatory per the state and must be completed based on our availability to retest. Thank you for your understanding.

We have a SUPER FUN week planned for our K-12 Students!

We have Awards and Events EVERY SINGLE DAY at CGS this week!! We hope that you can attend some of our events. Please see dates below for fun activities happening at CGS this week.

We hope that everyone has an AMAZING SUMMER VACATION and come back ready to rock and roll for our new school year on July 28th! Enjoy your break, and stay safe!!

There will be periodic messages and notifications sent over the summer as needed but our routine Sunday Messages will not return until after the July 4th holiday- closer to the start of the school year!

Please note: Wednesday, May 21st will still be an early release day- HOWEVER- we will release at 1:15 P.M. at our K-8 Campus and at 1:30 P.M. at our High School Campus.

K-8 Campus Updates

Greetings Grizzly Families,

We have made it to the last week of school…congratulations! This week will be filled with fun, excitement and wrapping up of testing. If you plan to attend a celebration or awards at the K-8 campus, please plan to park in our overflow parking lot area which can be found by entering the campus from the gravel entrance off of Burch Bridge Road. You will be required to sign in upon entering campus.

For the EOY Awards Ceremonies in the gym this week, you should sign in at the back entrance (gym entrance) after parking in the overflow parking lot. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start time.

Also, we still need your help with the Dress Code which is still being enforced. Ths means middle school students should not attend school wearing tights, leggings or sweatpants. Our Middle School teachers have had quite a few groups of students found in violation of the dress code because testing is underway. This is not the case. All students should adhere to the guidelines even during testing. If they are out of code, they will be asked to change. Repeat occurrences or lack of cooperation may result in other consequences. The guidelines can be found in the Parent Student Handbook. Your assistance is appreciated.

As always, thank you for your time, attention and support. Have a restful evening!

3rd Quarter Perfect Attendance:

Shout out to all of our students for making PERFECT attendance for Quarter 3. Names are listed below!

Thank you,

Mr. Kane

Dean of Students

High School Campus Updates

Greetings Grizzly Families,

I want to begin this week's Sunday Message by sharing my gratitude and sincere appreciation for a wonderful school year. Student success is dependent upon families and school staff working together. We have done well this year, setting our students up for success, and your support is key to an enjoyable school experience. Thank you for your continuous involvement and contributions to our school community. I look forward to continuing our work together in the 2025-2026 school year.

This week is End of Course (EOC) testing. We will be taking attendance, and students will participate in concept reviews in (3) 75 75-minute sessions with teachers who are not involved in testing. Please have your student at school by 8am and picked up by 12pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. On Wednesday, lunch will be served and buses will run for the early release at 1:30pm. Then on Friday, buses will run for the early release at 12pm.

I hope you have an enjoyable summer and make memories with those you love. See you in July!

All the best,

Dr. Morris

High School Student Advising Information and Opportunities:

Attention CCP Students

As mentioned previously, revisions to the CCP Guidelines will be forthcoming upon completion of scheduling at ACC. Scheduling challenges at ACC is opening opportunities for students to take online 8-week courses if an in-person/hybrid option is not available. Students are required to take in-person/hybrid classes on ACC's campus when the courses are available and work with their CGS schedule. We continue to work with students on an individual basis. In the event that in-person/hybrid courses are not available and students are placed in an online course at ACC, the student needs to communicate with a member of the advising team (Mrs. Walther, Mrs. Gladden, or Dr. Morris).

CCP Students Taking Summer Classes that Begin 5/21

Please check your ACC and CGS emails daily. Information regarding changes with ACC textbooks has been sent and will impact a successful start to classes beginning 5/21.

If you are taking a summer course and received an email about making a payment, this is because ACC has a new textbook model, and you are being charged for your textbook(s). If the charge is an $80 increment ($80, $160, $240, etc), this is because of textbooks, not tuition. Ms. Bader sent a message to all students who were registered for summer classes as of April 24 and again on May 7. You should have received this to your ACC email and your personal email account. As a reminder, you can still apply for the CCP textbook scholarship.

Early Release Schedule- High School Students- EOC Exams- May 2025

Please take a look at the Early Release Schedule attached as it pertains to our high school students ONLY taking EOC exams.

**Reminder: Please note change that 5/21 is a dismissal of 1:30 P.M. for our High School Students

Please reach out to Mrs. Ginter, our district testing coordinator with any questions at tonyaginter@cgsnc.org.

Thank you!
