We are asking for your partnership in talking with your child about taking pride in our school—especially when it comes to caring for our bathrooms. Recently, our staff has dealt with trash left on floors and items like paper towels and food intentionally clogging toilets and urinals. While we know this is not reflective of most of our students, these behaviors impact our custodial team and the overall school environment. Please reinforce the importance of treating shared spaces with respect and reporting any misbehavior they see or hear about. If these issues continue, we will need to move toward more restrictive bathroom-use procedures. Thank you for your support in helping us keep our school clean and welcoming for everyone.

A huge shout-out to the incredible cast and crew of Willy Wonka Jr. for an absolutely magical production this past weekend! Our talented students brought this classic story to life with energetic musical numbers, candy-colored costumes, and a sprinkle of pure stage magic.

From the first rehearsal to the final curtain call, their hard work, creativity, and teamwork shined every step of the way. We are so proud of this group and the unforgettable four-day run they delivered. Bravo to everyone involved!

Mountain Xpress has just announced the theme for the 2026 Mountain Xpress Kids Issue — “My wildest, funniest or most important moment.” — and your child is invited to participate.

Each March, Xpress publishes the Kids Issue to highlight the creative work of our local K-12 students. The issue offers a great way to both engage students and also bring some positive attention to the schools. NBMS students have shared wonderful submissions in past year.

The deadline is 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, so your students have plenty of time! You can find all the information about the contest, including submission guidelines and how to enter, by clicking here.

These students were our grand prize winners from the PTO Heart of a Hawk fundraiser.

• The first place prize is lunch off campus at Salt Face Mule, during the day, with three classmates.
• The 2nd place prize is 6 movie tickets and a $50 gift card to Asheville Pizza and Brewing.
• The 3rd place prize is 6 tickets to Asheville Retrocade.
