Welcome to Gator Country! Welcome to Gator Country!

It's Friday!

Happy Friday Gator Family!

It's amazing that it's about to be May!!! Where has the year gone? EOC and STAAR testing are right around the corner (see testing dates below). Now that our students have completed their Spring Benchmark assessments, they have had time to analyze their data and examine their strengths and weaknesses. They will continue to grow and improve over the next few weeks. Please assist us in encouraging our Gators to keep their focus on being the best they can be each and every day!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Blake

Congratulations Mr. Persinger!

Since 1997, Young Audiences of Northeast Texas has supported arts in education and partnered with educators to bring unique arts experiences to students, teachers and schools.

The Arts in Education Awards event honors the true heroes of the arts, arts educators themselves with an honoree reception followed by dinner and awards. Young Audiences of Northeast Texas has honored 40 exceptional Fine Arts Teachers over the last 10 years.

We would like to recognize our band director, Brian Persinger, for receiving the Young Audiences of Northeast Texas "The Arts Teaching Excellence Award" at the 11th Annual Arts in Education awards ceremony Tuesday night. We are proud of Mr. Persinger and the positive impact he makes on his performing arts students daily! This is a very prestigious award!

Congratulations Mr. Persinger!

An important message from our school nurse...Attention 6th grade parents!

Texas mandates that all students must have a Tdap booster and the Meningococcal vaccine on or before the start of 7th grade school year. Immunization records may be submitted to the front office, emailed to marissa.boerger@tylerisd.org, or faxed to 903-534-2871. If you do not submit an updated copy of immunization records reflecting administration of both vaccines, your student will not be allowed to attend school in August 2022. Reminder letters will be mailed in April.

Attendance

Improving attendance at Three Lakes Middle School is a top priority this school year. There is a direct correlation between student attendance and school success, so encourage your students to attend school and discuss the importance of them being here daily.

Our attendance for the week is as follows:

Grade 6: 94.17%

Grade 7: 92.53%

Grade 8: 94.49%

Overall: 93.71%

Congratulations to our 8th graders for having the highest attendance this week!!! Continue motivating your students to attend school...it makes a difference!!!

Here are some helpful hints to help with attendance:

  • Establish and stick to the basic routines (going to bed early, waking up on time, etc.) that will help your child develop the habit of on-time attendance.
  • Talk to your child about why going to school every day is critical and important unless they are sick. If your child seems reluctant to go to school, find out why and work with the teacher, counselor, or administrator to get them excited about going to school.
  • Come up with back up plans for who to turn to (another family member, a neighbor or fellow parents) to help you get your child to school if something comes up (e.g. another child gets sick, your car breaks down, etc.).
  • Reach out for help if you are experiencing tough times (e.g. transportation, unstable housing, loss of a job, health problems) that make it difficult to get your child to school. Other parents, your child’s teacher, principal, social worker, school nurse, counselor, or community agencies can help you problem solve or connect you to a needed resource.
  • If your child is absent, work with the teacher to make sure she or he has an opportunity to learn and make up for the academics missed.
