Instructional Update
This year, we began using DIBELS as part of our progress monitoring system to support student reading growth.
DIBELS is a short reading check-up that helps teachers see how students are developing important early literacy skills. It looks at areas such as recognizing letter sounds, reading words accurately, reading smoothly, and understanding what is read. The assessments are brief and are given throughout the year.
The purpose of DIBELS is not to give students a grade. Instead, it helps teachers identify strengths and areas where a child may need extra support. It also allows us to track growth over time and adjust instruction or interventions to meet individual student needs.
Behavior & School Expectations
We continue to focus on positive behavior expectations throughout the building. Please take a few moments to review school expectations with your child, including being respectful, responsible, and safe in all areas of the school.
Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance is essential for student success. As we move into the final stretch before spring break, please help your child arrive on time and ready to learn each day.
Looking Ahead
Spring brings many exciting activities, assessments, and events. More information will be shared soon regarding upcoming spring activities and end-of-year planning.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and school community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Student Drop Off
Parents, we need your help to keep our students safe and ensure timely drop-offs and pick-ups. Please pull all the way forward in the drop-off zone before allowing your child to exit the vehicle. Students should not get out of the car before the crosswalk.
These procedures help ensure that all students remain safe, that staff are available to assist students exiting vehicles, and that traffic continues to move smoothly. We truly appreciate your cooperation and support in following these safety procedures.

The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)
The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) are based on the Colorado Academic Standards and measure how well students have mastered grade-level expectations in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. Results provide one measure of academic progress relative to the standards.
Bea Underwood Students 3rd - 5th grade will take these assessments beginning April 7th.
