Principal's Weekly Update
Week of January 20-24
Administrator's Message 🐾
Dear Wildcat Families,
This past week, students continued MAP testing in their math classes. MAP makeups will be this following week. Students will be pulled from class to conduct makeups.
There is no school on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Our first semester academic awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, January 22nd. Invitations were sent via email and mail to students who qualified based on GPA.
We are seeing an increase of students selling items on campus - we would like to remind parents that selling on campus is not allowed. Items will be confiscated if students are not following expectations, and disciplinary action may be imposed.
Celebrating Our Community's Diversity
The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.
January 20, 2025 is Dr. Martin Luther King Day. Dr. King Jr’s first major role in the Civil Rights Movement came in 1955, after an African American lady, Rosa Parks, was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus. This sparked outrage in the African American community and Martin helped to organize a boycott of the city’s buses. After 381 days of protest, a court finally ruled that such segregation laws should no longer be recognised. Martin was a great believer in peaceful protest, inspired by the Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi. His protests used no-violent tactics, even when the protesters themselves were met with violence from the police. In October 1964, Martin won the Nobel Peace Prize!
Martin Luther King Jr is remembered for his tireless work during the Civil Rights Movement and his dream that one day everyone would be treated as equals. A statue built in his memory now stands in Washington D.C. and each year, the third Monday in January is celebrated as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an American federal holiday.

Sports
Please contact our athletic director Ms. Brucia with any sports questions at tinab@fsusd.org.
Any middle school student attending an FSUSD high school game must be accompanied by an adult.
Students attending home games at BGW must have their school ID and must pay 20 PBIS points to attend. Only students from BGW and from the opposing team will be able to enter games. Space is limited.
Winter Sports
In the basketball games this week against Grange, the girls won their game 20-13. The boys team had a tougher time. It seemed like basketball wouldn’t go in the basket no matter what they did. The boys team played great defense and took terrific shots but in the end lost to Grange. The next games will be at Green Valley Middle School.
