Marching Band Festival Results - 10.14.2026 Marching Band Festival Results - 10.14.2026

Congratulations to the 161-member Fraser High School “Rambler” marching band on its First Division rating in Class A competition in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 16 Marching Band Festival on Wednesday, October 14, held at Anchor Bay High School.

This is the TWENTY-FIFTH consecutive year that the Fraser marching band has participated in marching band festival and earned a FIRST DIVISION rating. Marching Band Festival is a week-long event across the state of Michigan, and a total of 36 bands from District 16 (which covers bands from all of Macomb and St. Clair Counties, and parts of Oakland county) participated. This adds up to over 3500 STUDENT MUSICIANS taking the field in competition.

Three judges adjudicate the bands in the categories of music, marching, and general effect showmanship. Ratings range from First Division, which is a superior rating, equivalent to the grade of an “A”, to a Fifth Division. Our “Ramblers” earned an overall FIRST DIVISION rating with 11 A’s and 1 B+ in the categories of Music, Marching, and General Effect / Showmanship.

I would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible team of professionals for which I am blessed to work with: Mrs. April Fiedler, Mr. Sheldon Santamaria, Mr. Luke Woods, Mr. George Dunn, Mr. Nick Hunter, Mrs. Shana Fleming, Ms. Codenne Fleming, Ms. Sydney Maison, Mr. Jakobe Neal, and Mr. Jason Kazmierski. Without their professional assistance throughout the marching season, the level of student achievement would not be possible!

I would also like to thank ALL of the parents for their support and assistance throughout the season!

Finally, thank you to all of the staff for their support of our students.

As always, Full of Fraser Pride,

Jim Rodgers

Work Permits Work Permits

Michigan recently enacted legislation that will transition the state’s youth work permit system from the current school-based process to a centralized system administered by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).

Beginning October 2, 2026, students will no longer obtain work permits through their Fraser school. Instead, minors and employers will use the State of Michigan’s free centralized online system to apply for and process youth work permits.

Beginning October 2, 2026:

  • New Online System: Students and employers must use LEO’s Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP) to apply for and process work permits.
  • Schools Will No Longer Issue Permits: Fraser Public Schools will no longer issue or approve youth work permits.

For more information about Michigan’s youth employment requirements or to access YEPP, visit the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Youth Employment Page at www.michigan.gov/leo/initiatives/youth-employment.

Tribal Affiliation Tribal Affiliation

User uploaded image

In Michigan, schools are required to collect certain student information, such as enrollment, demographics, and program participation, and share it with the Michigan Department of Education. This process is required by state and federal law and helps monitor publicly funded education programs.

A new rule in the State School Aid Act now requires schools to also collect information about students’ tribal affiliations. This change was developed with input from Tribal Nations in Michigan.

Starting this school year, families have the option to share tribal affiliation information. Sharing this information is completely voluntary.

The data will help strengthen communication with Tribal Nations and may allow schools to qualify for additional funding to better support Indigenous students.

If a family chooses to share this information, it will be protected under privacy laws such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), which also prohibits discrimination.

If you would like to report your tribal affiliation, please complete this form by October 7. (Link: https://fraserk12.jotform.com/252335442152853)
