A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL: My Purpose and Passion
Dear Booker Elementary Families,
Thank you for helping us kick off a fabulous first week of school! Your support, cooperation, and commitment made all the difference in ensuring a smooth and successful start. We are truly grateful for the teamwork between our parents, students, and staff.
We are excited about all that this school year holds. With our theme of Striving for Excellence in Culture, Academics, and Results—Every Day, we are confident that our students will continue to thrive and succeed.
As we head into the second week of school, we encourage everyone to keep up the great momentum. Please continue to support your child with consistent routines, communication, and a focus on learning each day. Together, we are building a strong foundation for an amazing year ahead.
Thank you again for your continued support—we are off to a great start, and the best is yet to come!
With appreciation,
Keisha Womack
Principal
FRIENDLY REMINDERS!
The first day of school is exciting for everyone—but it can also be a little hectic. To help make it a smooth and happy transition for all, here are a few helpful tips:
-
Arrive Early – Give yourself extra time for car rider line! All students must enter through the side doors between 7:35 am - 8:00 am.
Front Office Visits - Parents needing to visit the front office in the mornings and afternoons - Please enter the building through the main entrance for assistance; preferably without your child. Children who are car riders should be dropped off first in the car rider line, then parents we ask that you park in the front visitor parking spots or the curb that is NOT THE FIRE LANE. Proceed to the entrance with your valid ID or passport and ring the doorbell. You will be required to go through the metal detectors before proceeding to the window for assistance.
School Supplies - Pack clear or mesh backpacks only, lunchboxes, and any registration forms, immunizations, or signed forms the night before.
-
Know the Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures – Follow the school’s traffic flow to keep everyone safe and on time. Parents must remain in their cars. No student drop off in the front of the school during morning arrival. This area is only for students with special needs who require personal care assistance.
-
Be Kind and Respectful in your Interactions and dress appropriately - Parents we ask for you to be kind and respectful in your interactions with our staff members, teachers, and administrators. We want to ensure a positive environment for all and ensure the safety and security for all stakeholders. Please refrain from using profanity, disrespectful or threatening language/behaviors when speaking to our staff. When visiting the campus, please dress in appropriate clothing and avoid clothing that is revealing or has nappropriate language or designs.
We have started off strong! Let's keep up the great partnership and ensure we hold the highest standards for each other and our scholars! Together, we can achieve GREAT things!
PARENTS & GUARDIANS!
Please read our Safety Reminders below!
CAR RIDER PARENTS:
PLEASE ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO REMAIN IN THE CAR UNTIL THE BELL RINGS AND WE START THE CAR RIDER LINE. WE ARE NOT SUPERVISING STUDENTS AT THIS TIME.
WALKER PARENTS:
PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK STREETS, DRIVEWAYS (SCHOOL OR HOMES IN THE COMMUNITY) TURNAROUNDS, ENTRY OR EXITS AT ANY TIME! Precinct 4 has asked us to warn our parents who continue to engage in parking unlawfully, blocking Doubletree Glenn Lane and the residents' driveways who live on that street, that they will be issuing tickets.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF ON IMPERIAL VALLEY. Our Spring ISD Police and Precinct 4 will be enforcing traffic laws, during arrival and dismissal.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF ACROSS THE STREET AT DEKANEY and have them try to cross the street to get to Booker. There is no crosswalk and this is extremely dangerous.
PLEASE DO NOT WALK ACROSS THE PARKING LOT WITH CHILDREN DURING ARRIVAL. We ask that you use the sidewalks at all times.
PLEASE DO NOT STAND UNDER THE AWNING LEADING TO OUR SIDE ENTRY DOOR. This is the area for students and staff. We ask that you wait along side of the car rider cars until the bell rings and students line up to enter the building. Avoid interacting with students. You can have your child line up with the others, but we ask that you stand on the sidewalk away from the awning.
Gifted & Talented Screening Window - Now Open!
BEGINNING OF THE YEAR TESTING IS NEXT WEEK!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin the school year, our students will be taking Beginning of Year (BOY) assessments from Monday, August 25 through Friday, August 29, 2025. These assessments are an important part of our instructional program. They allow teachers to understand each student’s current level of performance, identify strengths, and provide additional support where needed.
Assessments include:
• Circle Assessment (Pre-K): Measures early learning and readiness skills.
• mClass (Grades K–2): Assesses foundational literacy skills (English and Spanish).
• MAP Growth (Grades K–5): Measures student progress in Reading, Math, and Science (5th grade only).
• TIA Assessments (Grades 4–5): Supports teacher effectiveness through student achievement data.
Why are these assessments important?
• They help teachers tailor instruction to meet individual student needs.
• They provide a baseline to measure student growth throughout the year.
• They ensure that our school is meeting state and district requirements.
What parents can do to help:
• Make sure your child is present and on time each day during the testing week.
• Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast on testing days.
• Offer encouragement and remind your child to do their best.
Thank you in advance for partnering with us to support your child’s success. If you have any questions regarding the BOY assessments, please contact Mr. Rodriguez at hrodrigu@springisd.org.
Sincerely,
Booker Testing Team

VISITOR PROCEDURES
RING THE DOORBELL!
Parents or guardians will be required to stand in front of an exterior camera and present valid identification, such as a driver’s license, before they are granted access to the building. This camera is positioned outside, near the main entrance, and no one will be permitted inside until their identity has been verified by the front office staff. To further enhance security, adults are asked to close the door immediately upon entering and ensure no one follows them in and must proceed through the metal detectors. Tardiness not only impacts learning but can also interfere with the seamless implementation of these protocols.
Let’s work together to ensure everyone's safety and that every student is present, on time, and ready to learn each day!
