Together We Rise: Updates from the Principal
9/12/2025
A Message from Dr. Delgado:
We have had such a great week at Westview! It was a true pleasure engaging with our parents and community members at both our CAAC and PTO meetings this Wednesday. Together, we shared ideas for the development of our Turnaround Plan and began exploring some exciting ways to strengthen community and parent engagement in the weeks ahead.
Our first home football games were also a huge success! Our community filled the stands TWICE—once for the 7th grade game and again for the 8th grade game. The energy, support, and pride in our athletes were incredible. A special thank you to our PTO for supporting our fans, and they’re already preparing to have a fully stocked concession stand for our next home game!
Looking ahead, next week marks the end of the 6th week of school. That means another Interim Progress Report (IPR) and UIL eligibility update. Parents and students, please take time to review grades in Skyward to ensure students remain eligible to participate in extracurricular activities. IPRs will be released Friday, September 19th, at 4:00 p.m. If you need assistance accessing Skyward, don’t hesitate to call our main office—we’re happy to help!
I look forward to continuing to grow our partnerships and working together to support the success of our children.
Westview Middle School Turnaround Plan Feedback
📢 Seeking Parent & Community Input: Campus Turnaround Plan (TAP)
Westview Middle School has received an F rating for the past three years, which requires us to submit a Turnaround Plan (TAP) to the state. It is vital that the voices of our parents, families, and community members are included in shaping this plan for the future of our Wildcats.
Please take a moment to complete the brief survey linked below to provide your input.
Additionally, if you would like to share more detailed feedback in person, we invite you to attend our CAAC/Community Meeting on Wednesday, September 10th at 5:00 p.m. in the Wildcat Library.
✅ Your voice matters—help us shape a stronger future for Westview!
A Message from the Counselors
Counselor Referral Form
If your child is in need of services provided by our counseling team, such as an academic or scheduling concern, a peer conflict, family or grief concern, mental health concerns, or request for community resources, please use this linked form to request support.
Schedule Changes
Thank you for your patience and support as we worked through schedule changes at the start of the school year. As a reminder, we stopped accepting schedule change requests on Friday, September 5th.
At this point, no schedule changes will be made without administrator approval.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain consistency for our students. Together, we can ensure that every Wildcat is set up for success this school year!

Cell Phone Policy Update: Transition to Full Implementation
Since the start of the school year (August 13 – September 18), we have been in a transition period for our no-cell-phone policy. During this time, students were given progressive reminders and opportunities to adjust to the new expectations:
-
1st Offense: Verbal reminder
-
2nd Offense: Device confiscated and returned at the end of the day
-
3rd Offense: Device returned only to a parent/guardian
-
Chronic Violations: Parent meeting and progressive discipline
Beginning Wednesday, September 18, we will move into full implementation of our cell phone policy. This phase will follow a stricter consequence ladder:
-
1st Offense: Device confiscated, returned only to a parent/guardian
-
2nd Offense: Device confiscated + lunch detention (documented in Skyward)
-
3rd Offense: Device confiscated + half-day of ISS + parent meeting
-
Chronic Issues: May result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or temporary ban of the device on campus
We ask all parents to remind your child to keep their cell phone turned off and stored in their backpack or personal belongings throughout the school day. By working together, we can ensure our students remain focused on learning without distractions.
Adult Evening English Classes
📖 English Classes for Parents & Families
We are excited to announce that Westview will be offering evening English classes for parents and family members of our students! This is a wonderful opportunity for our Wildcat community to grow and learn together.
🗓 Dates: Monday, September 29 – Thursday, December 4
📍 Days: Monday - Wednesday
⏰ Time: 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.
📌 Location: Westview Middle School
These classes are designed to support our families by strengthening English language skills, building confidence, and creating connections within our school community. We hope many of you will take advantage of this opportunity!
Safety Protocols
🎟️ Student ID Badges
A reminder that all students are required to wear their ID badge every day while on campus. This important safety measure helps us ensure that everyone in the building belongs here and allows us to keep all students safe at all times.
We ask for your support in reminding your child not to leave the house without their ID badge each morning. If a student has lost their badge, they should report to the office to request a replacement. Please note that replacement ID badges cost $5.00. Please use the link below to pre-pay for a replacement ID badge.
Thank you for helping us keep Westview a safe and secure place for learning!
Restroom Use During Class Time
We ask for your support in helping students value their instructional time. Restroom breaks during class should be limited to emergencies only. Each student is allotted six restroom passes per six weeks for use during class time. Students will be issued a new restroom pass through their social studies classes on Monday, September 22, 2025.
As a reminder, we have increased our passing periods to four minutes to give students more time to use the restroom between classes. Students may also use the restroom during lunch, before school, and after school.
Please encourage your student to make the most of their class time by avoiding unnecessary restroom trips during instructional periods.
Community Eligibility Provision Form (CEP)
Everyone Must Complete a CEP Form
All families are asked to complete a CEP form for this school year. This process is vital to ensuring that our school receives the funding and resources needed to best serve our students.
If you have not yet submitted your form—or if you’re unsure whether you have—please print the form linked below, complete it and return it to the school. You may also take a picture of the completed form and email it to us at Amanda.Vela@PfISD.net.
Thank you for helping us support Westview with the resources our students deserve!
No Food Deliveries from Restaurant Food
As a reminder, restaurant food deliveries are not allowed during the school day. If you would like your child to enjoy a meal from a restaurant, you are welcome to:
-
Sign your student out and enjoy lunch with them off campus, or
-
Join them at our picnic tables in front of the school.
After lunch, students can be signed back in to continue their school day.
Parents are always welcome to bring homemade lunches for their students. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and structured learning environment!
Check Your Student's Grades
📚 Grade Check Reminder
The end of the six-week grading period is Friday, September 19th. The grades reported at this interim period will determine UIL eligibility for students participating in extracurricular activities.
Please take time this week to check your child’s grades in Skyward. If your child is failing any classes, they will not be able to participate in extracurricular activities until they regain eligibility.
If you need any assistance accessing your child’s grades or attendance in Skyward, please call our main office at (512) 594-2200—we are happy to help!

Students Attending Games
🚗 Student Pick-Up After Events
We want to remind everyone that students must be picked up on time after all athletic and extracurricular events. Student safety is our top priority, and it is important that all students have reliable transportation arranged before the event ends.
If a student is left at an event without a ride, they may not be allowed to attend future events. Please help us ensure all of our Wildcats can continue to participate and enjoy these opportunities by planning ahead for timely pick-up.
Thank you for your cooperation and support!

-
8th Grade Football – We are also very proud of our 8th grade team. Although they did not get the win this week, they played with heart, effort, and determination. Their commitment to representing Westview with pride is something to celebrate.
Way to go, Wildcats! We are proud of both teams and look forward to cheering them on throughout the season.

Tardy Consequences Issued Beginning Monday, September 8th
⏰ Tardy Policy Update
We want to remind everyone that we have begun issuing consequences for student tardies. If you have received an email from us regarding your child’s tardies, please take a moment to talk with them about the importance of being on time before consequences escalate to detention or ISS.
Arriving to class on time not only helps students avoid consequences, but it also directly impacts their learning, focus, and overall success as a student. Thank you for your support in reinforcing this important expectation at home!
