The Wallin Way Weekly Newsletter
Friday, March 6th
Good Evening K9 Families,
What a wonderful week it has been at Wallin Oaks! Our 4th grade students had the opportunity to go on a field trip to Naper Settlement, where they explored historic buildings, learned about life in the past, and participated in hands-on activities that brought history to life. It was such a meaningful and engaging experience for our students, and we are so proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm!
Below, you will also find a flyer with information about our upcoming 2nd and 3rd Grade Music and Art Show, where students will showcase their amazing talents, as well as details about the Ira Jones NJHS Family Game Night, a fun evening for families to come together and enjoy games, food, and community.
We also invite our families to share their voice by completing the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This annual survey provides valuable feedback about our school’s learning environment and helps us better understand family perspectives related to communication, school culture, safety, and overall effectiveness. Your feedback plays an important role in helping us reflect, celebrate strengths, and identify areas where we can continue to grow and improve as a school community. The survey is completely confidential and typically takes about 10 minutes to complete.

School Information
Attendance and Transportation Reminders
We kindly ask all families to notify both the classroom teacher and the main office if your student will be absent for any reason. Clear communication helps us ensure accurate attendance records and maintain a safe, organized school environment.
Additionally, if there are any changes to your child’s transportation plans—such as switching from a bus rider to a car rider—please inform the main office directly. Our office staff will relay the information to the appropriate teacher.
Lastly, for the safety and efficiency of our drop-off procedure, please pull all the way forward in the car line and have students exit the vehicle on the side of the school.
Thank you for helping us keep everything running smoothly!
Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Morning Drop Off
For the safety of all students, we kindly ask that families do not park at Ira Jones during morning drop-off. Instead, please use the designated car line, which is designed to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
To help maintain a steady flow, we also ask that drivers remain in their vehicles at all times during drop-off. Following these procedures ensures a safe and smooth start to the day for everyone.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please remember to turn off your car while waiting to pick up your student after school. Running cars pose a safety risk for students and teachers walking up and down the car lines, and it's also important to reduce the fumes in the air for everyone’s health. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and healthy!
