Edison Newsletter!
Dear Edison Family,
This week, our students honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by participating in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr parade on January 19th. We are proud of the legacy Dr. King left for us all, and we encourage our students to practice kindness, fairness, and service to others.
We are so proud to celebrate our Students of the Month, Bryson Muthiani and Amarachi Emegwa! Thank you for modeling great character and making our school proud.
A huge congratulations to Lindsey Davis, our District Teacher of the Month—what an incredible honor and well-deserved recognition of your hard work and dedication to students.
We also want to recognize Ana Arredondo, our Employee of the Month. Thank you for all you do to support our campus each and every day.
We are grateful for each of you and proud to celebrate your achievements!
As we look ahead, please remember to stay safe during the winter storm. Monitor local weather updates, dress warmly, and take extra care when traveling. Any school updates or changes will be shared through our usual communication channels.
We also proudly recognize and thank our incredible School Board members during School Board Appreciation Month. Their commitment to education helps ensure our schools remain strong and focused on student success. We are fortunate to have such an amazing School Board supporting our Edison community!
Our Character Trait of the Month is perseverance. Perseverance means not giving up when something feels challenging and continuing to try, even when things are hard. We encourage our students to practice perseverance by putting forth their best effort, learning from mistakes, and believing in themselves. With perseverance, our students learn that growth happens through practice, patience, and determination; skills that will serve them well both in and out of the classroom.
Valentines day parties and times are included below.

Reoccurring reminders:
Traffic Reminder 🚗
To help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently, please turn right when exiting the school during arrival and dismissal. This small change will help reduce congestion and ensure a smoother transition for all families. Thank you for your cooperation!
Also, when crossing the street or high traffic areas, please make sure to be crossed by a crossing guard at the cross walk, thank you.
Reading and Writing at home: We do a great deal of reading and writing at school. Parents/Guardians, if you could help us out by helping your kiddos with their home work, also reading to them, and having them write something short and age appropriate (pre-k: trace some letters, Kinder: write a few short words, 1st grade: write a short sentence), would go a long way.
Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.
Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.
Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick. If they are sick please leave a doctors note with the front office.
School policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...
Transportation Changes: ALL Transportation changes must be made no later that 12pm. Any changes after that time cannot be made. Thank you,
Edison Elem. Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
