THANK YOU for being part of our STEM network and supporting innovation across Northeast Ohio!
A huge thank you to St. Mary School Chardon for opening their doors and hosting our recent School Spotlight Visit! Visitors interested in STEM education and designation had the opportunity to step into classrooms, see hands-on learning in action, and explore what problem-based learning looks like in practice. We truly appreciate your hospitality and dedication to inspiring STEM excellence across our region!
If you are interested in starting the process or asking questions about what STEM or STEAM designation could look like for your school, please reach out to Christine Danhoff, cdanhoff@npesc.org to set up a time to meet.

Computer science (CS) education is at a crossroads in Ohio. While only 61% of Ohio high schools offer a CS course, nearly all jobs now require digital skills. This year, the Ohio STEM Learning Network is offering three programs, all at no cost, to help educators and districts build CS capacity.
Choose your path:

You'll attend a culminating showcase with a school administrator to share what you've learned. ATTENTION TEACHERS AND
ADMINISTRATORS:
Are you looking for a unique and very rare STEM
program that very few no other school offers, costs
absolutely nothing and, best of all, teachers don’t
have to take on any additional work?
It’s called SARCNET and I’m looking to add
more schools to my program right now!
What does the SARCNET program (School Amateur Radio Club) offer your students?
• A membership in a very rare school based Amateur Radio club that allows kids to be
able to do cool things that they never expected to be able to do. One of my clubs
are 2x National Champions and multiple second place finishes in the ARRL School Club
Roundup!
• The opportunity to learn and use special codes, terms and official procedures over
the air and even how to use a volt ohm meter
• The chance to learn and operate a shortwave radio transmitter, build antennas and
experience electronics as well as talking to people all over the world and learn a boat
load of geography, at the same time
• The choice to expand their horizons and improve their communication skills by
talking to other radio operators in other states, countries and even continents
• Another way to explore our planet, it’s ionosphere, the sun, space and even learn
about severe weather
What does SARCNET offer educators?
• A complimentary teaching approach that provides hands-on STEM activities in
several other fields of study including electronics, communication skills and
geography
• A free collaboration between Amateur Radio operators and educators
• A program that is overwhelmingly appreciated by parents; boosts the school’s
academic profile and presents the school as being innovative
• A fascinating and sophisticated demonstration of varying technologies
• A professionally-presented and safe, extra-curricular activity that is family oriented
and offers additional practical life skills
• The choice to become either a classroom or an after school program
