School Improvement Council (SIC) - Nominations for Parent Representatives

The Lugoff Elementary School School Improvement Council (SIC) is an advisory council to the principal that is focused on school improvement issues. It is made up of representatives of parents, teachers, and community members. The principal serves as an ex-officio member. The SIC meets at least monthly during the school year.

Lugoff Elementary School (LES) representatives are nominated and elected by their fellow LES parents. Any parent/guardian of at least one child enrolled in LES is eligible to place his/her own name or the name of another parent in nomination.

Parent representatives are elected to a term of two years. If a parent has a child enrolled in the 5th grade at LES for the current school year and will not have any child enrolled the following year, that parent is elected to a term of one year only.

A representative of the SIC will contact all individuals whose names are submitted into nomination prior to the election to confirm acceptance of the nomination. Nominees will be invited to submit a brief statement about themselves and why they want to serve on the SIC. All statements received will be printed on the opposite side of the ballot so that voters will have a chance to get to know each of the candidates.

You can submit your nomination using this attached form to LES's school office no later than Friday, October 2, 2026. If you cannot print this form and need a copy, please stop by our school's office. Ballots will be sent home the week following Fall Break (Monday, October 12, 2026) and must be returned by Thursday, October 15, 2026. We are looking for a minimum of two parents to serve as our SIC representatives, and we will announce those representatives as soon as the ballots are counted.

Technology Fee Reminder

Families,

In keeping with KCSD School Board policy, all students in grades 1st - 5th need to pay a $10 technology fee before they can bring a device home. This and other fees can be paid online. To pay, you can go to www.myschoolbucks.com and create an account or log in to an existing one. Payments can be made by visiting the "School Store." Myschoolbucks.com charges a processing fee for online payments. You may also send $10 (cash or check made payable to LES) to your child's teacher, or you may drop it off at the front office. This fee must be paid each year and covers charges for Chromebook damages. The KCSD insurance plan covers the cost of one (1) accidental repair per school year; however, any damages or repair costs beyond the first incident will be the responsibility of the student/parent/guardian. Please refer to pages 73 and 74 of the Parent Handbook below for additional information.
