From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
Our first weeks back from spring break have been action packed at Salt Creek! Not only in the classrooms, but outside as well as construction has started. Because of this, our playground has been dismantled and stored to be reassembled once the new addition is built. It is an exciting time!
You may have been worried about recess time at school without the playground...(I know I was!) But thanks to the generosity of the FTC, we were able to purchase brand new playground equipment. Balls, hulahoops, chalk and jump ropes; but also activity panels to hang along he fence and a GaGa Ball pit! GaGa Ball has taken Salt Creek by storm, even our PK students are enjoying this game at recess time. See pictures below of our new equipment and thank you FTC!
Speaking of FTC, they have also set up a cares account for our student who lost a parent over spring break. If you have a desire to contribute to this family in their time of need, you can do so by using this link: https://saltcreek48ftc.membershiptoolkit.com/packet/256666583
Thank you to all who have reached out to share your support of the family during this time.
Just a friendly reminder that K/1 students have a field trip next week to the DuPage Children's museum on 4/23. Also teacher appreciation week is coming up! Please read the notes in the FTC section below to see how you can contribute and appreciate our teachers the first week of May!
Thank you for your patience at arrival and dismissal with the limited parking/blacktop area. Just a reminder that when the buses are loading/unloading and they have their stops signs out, all cars must stop and avoid passing. We try to get our pick-up dismissed swiftly to avoid this congestion. We appreciate your support to keep all our kids safe!
Have a great holiday weekend to those who celebrate,
-Mrs. Scanlan

Just a reminder that construction started outside Salt Creek Primary over Spring Break. There is currently be fencing around the school, shown on this diagram in red. All emergency exits will still be accessible and dismissal/pick-up procedures will remain the same. As always, we urge extra caution when driving on the blacktop and through the parking lot. All new or updated information is listed above.
School Hours
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
