A Message From Dr. Cannon
Happy Friday!
It's hard to believe we are already one month into the school year! We are enjoying celebrating all of the kind, safe, and responsible behavior that our students are showing. Students are working hard to earn Brave tickets and they are so proud of themselves when they get to put them in the basket. We have only been giving out tickets for 8 days and have over 100 tickets already turned in!
2nd-5th grade students have all earned their first cafeteria reward and are working on the next reward that they voted on. KG and 1st grade students are on their way to earning their first reward!
Ohio's weather sometimes changes by the hour and students often take off jackets/sweatshirts throughout the day. Our lost and found is filling up quickly! Please make sure to write your child's name on the tag inside their jackets so that we can make sure lost clothing gets back to the right owner!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kirsten Cannon, Principal

Afternoon Car Dismissal
We have noticed that our new car tags have not quite held up in the heat! Because of this, we are going to print placards for students who are "regular" car riders. These tags will come home in the Friday Folders. Please make sure you display the placards in your windshield for dismissal- similar to last year.
If you forget the new placard or are not a regular car rider, you can absolutely use the red tags that we passed out to all students at the beginning of the year. If you would like a new printed one, please let us know.

Lunch Accounts
As a reminder, you are able to add funds to your student's lunch account through the PaySchool Central. If your student's account reaches -$50 it will be rolled into your school fees. Please be mindful and keep your student's account current. You can use Talawanda EZ Pay, send a check or cash to the school office to take care of your student's balance.

Hello parents and guardians!
We are off and running with the new school year and it has been such a joy to see your students come in with smiles and hugs each day. We have officially kicked off our Second Step classroom lessons. I will be in your student’s classroom every other week and we will be learning various concepts such as what it means to be a good friend, how to problem solve, how to be a good listener, etc. The kids have loved seeing me come in and I love seeing how excited they get when I open the door to their classroom.
As a reminder, if your student needs anything at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I can be reached at the following contact information:
Email: heidelh@talawanda.org
Phone: 513-273-3460
There is also a Google Form (click link) you can complete and I can follow up with details on support for your student.
On November 21st, I am planning a school-wide Career and Spark Day for our students. This day is an opportunity for people to come in and share about their careers and passions with the students. So far, I have commitments from various fields such as farming, engineering, electricians, cake decorating and more. If you have a career or a passion you’d love to come in and share with our students, please fill out THIS Google Form and I will be in touch with more details!
