Tep Talk for October 7th - 11th
Hi Powers Families...
With conferences coming up this week I wanted to share The Smore Newsletter linked below that Mackenzie Hall (Curriculum Director) emailed to all K-5 families yesterday. It contains links to family literacy resources, including an explanation of Third Grade Reading, RIMPs, and Acadience Reading.

Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Update
The Lunchroom
The second area we will cover in Wellness class is the lunchroom. Sept 9-Sept 16 is the second rotation in Wellness. All classes will walk down to the lunchroom together. These are the expectations we will discuss together as well as some common lunchroom scenarios.
One of the hardest things at the beginning of the year for kids at this age is time management in the lunchroom. We often hear parents say “My kid didn’t have enough time to eat.” Reviewing these expectations at home will help your child have plenty of time to finish their lunch. These are great skills to practice at your dinner table or the next time you go out to dinner. Ask your child to show what they know!
Our Day Starts at 8:50am!
Powers School Day Begins at 8:50am
If your child is a car rider in the morning, please remeber that our school day starts at 8:50am. After 8:50am, parents will need to bring their child to the main office to sign them in as tardy. Please do not drop your child off at the side doors by the big playground after 8:50am.
National School Lunch Week
Celebrate With Us (October 14-18)
The week of Oct.14-18 is National School week lunch. The theme is School Lunch Pirates...Find your treasure! The food service team will be dressing up this year as pirates on Friday the 18th. Staff and students are encouraged to join in the fun and dress up as pirates up as pirates. Every student that buys a school lunch on Friday the 18th will receive a sticker with the Pirate theme. Thanks for your support!
Need an Interpreter?
Please Help Us Help You!!!
If a parent/guardian requires an interpreter for a school event (meeting, conference, concert/, etc.), please contact your child's teacher with your request for interpreter support. It is most helpful to receive this request at least 1 week in advance so that we have time to honor that request and get the support in place for you or your family.
