Susan B. Anthony School News
2025-26 ~ September
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Susan B. Anthony EAGLES and families! We want to thank each student, family member, and staff for helping us to have a great start to our school year. In the first 10 days of school, we have noticed students excited to learn and remembering our core values of Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect. Our staff has been working hard to model, teach, and reinforce these values, as well as dive into our academic learning. Our students are already learning new concepts, as well as reviewing concepts learned previously. GREAT JOB EAGLES!!!
The purpose of our monthly newsletter is to keep you informed of important school topics, upcoming events, and other information to help us have a great school year. You are an important partner in your child(ren)'s learning, and we value our partnership with you. Please let us know if you ever have questions.
As mentioned above our Susan B. Anthony EAGLES are explicitly taught and practice our core values of Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect (S.O.A.R.) as they learn and work together each day. We have already begun positively reinforcing students through SOAR Tickets and the EAGLE WAY CALL OF THE DAY. Please ask your child to talk to you about how they have SOAR-ed each day.
Our mission in the Sioux Falls School District is "To educate and prepare each child to succeed in a changing world". At Susan B. Anthony we have incorporated that mission in our school vision: "We know the most important adults in a child's life - parents, guardians, grandparents, etc. - are their first teachers. As your child's first teacher, we want to partner with you in educating and preparing your student for success in an ever-changing world." Our partnership with our students' families is not only important, but also critical to each child's success. We hope to foster open communication, working together, and positive relationships in a welcoming environment.
Finally I would encourage you to visit the Susan B. Anthony school website often. You will find important information, as well as a live feed with quick updates. The website can be accessed HERE. Healthy Tips
Seasonal colds, flu, and other illnesses are unwelcome interruptions to our lives.Encourage your child to practice the following tips to protect their health:
· Avoid close contact with those who are sick. Don’t share food and drinks with others. Also avoid hugging and kissing the sick person if possible.
· Cover coughs and sneezes. Help keep germs from circulating- cover your nose with a tissue when sneezing and dispose of the tissues properly. When coughing, cover your mouth with your arm, not your hand.
· Wash your hands periodically with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially before eating, after the used of the bathroom and after coughing or sneezing. Use hand sanitizer when you’re not near a sink.
· Avoid touching your face. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose or mouth.
· Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, drink plenty of fluids, manage stress and eat nutritious foods.
