Principal's News

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As our academic year draws to a close we have much to celebrate and many memories. We have had to navigate our way through this school year but with everyone on the same team, We made it!! Reflecting back on this school year, I’m proud to note how far we have come as a family of schools, celebrating our strong Kujawa history and building lifelong learners in our scholars.

Congratulations to the students and teachers for another successful year. I would like to thank you for all your support throughout the year. You should be proud of your child/children because they are a credit to you. We are committed to preparing Kujawa IB Eagles students for tomorrow’s world, empowering our young learners to make a difference in our world.

Please make sure your child reads over the summer, take time to listen to them read and have them practice their math skills.

I would like to wish you all the very best for a summer of making memories and look forward to welcoming you all back, refreshed, for what will be an exciting, new academic year.

We will welcome back all our scholars, Wednesday, August 17th, 2022.

Partners in Education,

Mrs. Jenkins

Screen Time Recommendations for Kids

Summer is upon us, so that means parents want to keep their child(ren) engaged and active. However, most kids spend a lot of time in front of screens, like TVs, computers, tablets, and smartphones. School-aged kids also need time for other activities, like exercise, screen-free playtime, time with friends and family, and sleep.

Screen Time Tips:
The same parenting rules apply to screen time as to anything else — set a good example, establish limits, and talk with your child about it.

To make your child's screen time more productive:

  • Turn off all screens during meals and at least 1 hour before bedtime.
  • Keep TVs and other screens, including smartphones, tablets, and gaming systems, out of your child's bedroom.
  • Spend time together with your child watching TV, playing games, or going online. Use this time as a chance to talk and learn together.
  • Keep the computer in a common area where you can watch what's going on. Teach your child about safe Internet and social media use.

First Grade News

First grade teachers are proud of our first graders and how hard they worked this year learning to be better readers, writers, and mathematicians! As students enjoy their time to rest and relax, please encourage your child to continue practicing these skills every day. Your child has brought home unfinished workbooks that can be used to continue their learning at home.

Free versions of our curriculum can be found at https://www.coreknowledge.org/curriculum/download-curriculum/ for CKLA reading and https://gm.greatminds.org/eureka-math-basic-files for EUREKA math. You can also search for “first grade reading/math” on YouTube and find many videos created for children to learn independently. It is easy for children to forget what they have learned if they are not practicing daily and we don’t want them to undo all of their hard work they’ve done over the school year!

Have a great summer!

Second Grade News

The Second Grade Team is very proud of the effort your child has put forth in this nine-week period. Our Kujawa Eagles were able to soar and show off all that they had learned throughout the school year.

During this fourth nine weeks, we had focused on a variety of things! In reading, we studied the human body and ways to keep ourselves healthy. In math, we focused on time, measuring, and money. The students had a great time visiting the Downtown Aquarium to observe animal habitats and animal adaptations.

Remember to make sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes a day and study the multiplication facts. It has been a pleasure teaching your child and we hope you have a great summer!

Third Grade News

The third grade team would like to thank you all for an amazing school year. We could not have asked for a better group of students than this group. We smiled, laughed, and learned new things together. All of the students have grown so much and showed growth overall. We are going to miss you all and can't wait to see you all next year. Have a wonderful, safe and restful summer.

Fourth Grade News

The end of the school year is here! We made it!! We are proud of our students for staying focus and using their strategies on the STAAR test. What a great way to the end the year with an awesome field trip. The students enjoyed the museum and all the great exhibits.

As you prepare for summer, remember to take some time out to read every day. Readers are leaders! Enjoy your family and friends, make new memories, and have a safe and restful summer.

Fifth Grade News

The 5th grade students have been very busy for the last 9 weeks. We started by reviewing the concepts we learned this year in Math, Reading, and Science. Every day we review concepts that were a bit difficult for us. After our review, we take our STAAR tests. We worked very hard, stayed focused and showed our strategies. After the STAAR tests we began our exhibition projects. Students grouped together and focused on social issues such as; water pollution, stray animals, homelessness and much more!

Students presented their projects to first through fourth grade students. 6th grade is fast approaching, please have students review math concepts (their math textbook will be sent home) and read daily over the Summer break.
