Supporting Student Mental Health and Resilience
An event with Christian Moore, L.C.S.W., M.S.W.
How do you help students bounce back from what they have been through? From trauma, isolation, and poverty, to mental health challenges, our students have faced many obstacles over the last two years. Come see a formula to guide students forward through challenges and foster motivation for the future.
Those in attendance will receive a free digital copy of The Resilience Breakthrough.
The afternoon we will be discussing connecting to local resources and strategies to support anxiety.
Read a New Book Month
This time of year is filled with celebrations, so why not add on another? December is Read a New Book month. Whether it is over winter break or a weekend, an audiobook or paperback, try to find time to delve into a book. I always try to take advantage of my winter and summer breaks by reading novels. Reading has always been a relaxing escape form the stress and general monotony of everyday life.
I love reading and never thought I would like audiobooks because I can read faster than they can speak. However, I have recently discovered a love for audiobooks (as long as the narrator is great), which allows me to "read" during my drive to work. Listening to a story makes me slow down and really take in the story and the descriptions. I find myself listening while I do chores around my house or while I am playing with my dogs.
Everyone has their own preferences in regards to reading material, however, if you are interested in recommendations related to our field, here are a few that I have read or are on my list to read:
It's Always About the Children by Charles Barrett (of course- check out the on demand book study)
Hacking Deficit Thinking by Byron McClure and Kelsie Reed
The Body Keeps Score by Bessel van der Kolk
The Knowledge Gap by Natalie Wexler
