Author Visit - Megan Moneypenny
Today grades K - 3 had a special visit from a new author, Megan Moneypenny!
Grade 4
4th Graders are exploring various structures and functions of the human body. This week we built models to show that muscles pull on tendons and tendons pull on bones.
Weekly update with Mrs. Carey, Our School Nurse
Great news!
On October 28th and November 1st, GVS and the Lions Club of NH will be providing a FREE vision screening for all students PreK-6th grade! Please sign and turn in the attached consent form to have your child participate.
I have used the Lions Club in the past and we have identified several children each year that have gone undiagnosed with visual problems. When I first began utilizing their services, we identified at least one student in each grade level that needed further evaluation. (The spot screener sees things during screenings that I can’t).
Have a great weekend!
Resources From Our School Counselor, Mrs. Widmann
Alphabet Knowledge- From Mrs. Buckley
Learning the alphabet is a foundational skill in reading. Alphabet knowledge is the ability to name letters, identify the sounds they make and their printed shapes.
Science Fun
Thank you!
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make our recent flu clinic a resounding success! Your time, effort, and dedication were vital in providing our students with access to vaccinations in a safe and welcoming environment.
Your teamwork and commitment not only helped streamline the process but also ensured that our school community is healthier and more prepared for the flu season.
Thank you for your hard work and for making a positive impact on our students and their families. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Can Tabs for David’s House
The Grantham Village School third grade class is collecting can tabs for David's House. Please send them in whenever you can. We have collected about 1,400 pounds since we began 20 plus years ago! We drop them off at David's House, where a volunteer brings them to a recycling facility for cash. The money is used to help defray operating expenses. Last year we collected 107 pounds! Let’s see if we can collect over 100 pounds again this school year.
Click on the David’s House link to learn more about this community treasure.
Thank you for your support!

Monday morning, November 4, 2024: GVS Picture Retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day, OR for anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. If a student would like the retake photo to replace the original photo, please have the student return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace the original package at no additional cost.
If this is the first time being photographed, just have the student/staff go to the camera, and we’ll create a proof for them that will be sent to the school (and/or to their family email if we have that information). These proofs will be delivered approx. 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.
