Inclement Weather Information

The purpose of this document is to provide expectations for students and staff to support virtual instructional days. With wintry weather ahead, we have to be prepared. Be sure to keep this email for future reference.

CCPS has identified four built-in inclement weather days in the 2025-2026 calendar. With winter weather approaching this weekend, we only have two more inclement days remaining. Once those inclement-weather days are used for school closures, CCPS can initiate virtual instruction.

Communication about Virtual Instruction is important for students, staff, and families. We will utilize our mass notification system, including phone calls, emails, SMS text messages, and our three social media platforms and website. This process will be similar to the notifications during an inclement weather closure.

Teachers will also contact parents and/or students via email or Schoology to notify them of class- and assignment-specific expectations, as well as information about that day's instruction.

• PS-Grade 1:

• Instructional materials will be paper packets

• Grades 2-5:

• Lessons will be posted in Schoology AND/OR Materials will be provided in paper packets

• Any Chromebooks and chargers that are sent home must return back to the school building the next face to face day

• Middle and High Schools:

• Lessons will be posted in Schoology

• Middle School - Any Chromebooks and chargers that are sent home must return back to the school building the next face to face day

• All schools begin at 9:30 AM.
• Teachers will be available via Zoom throughout the instructional day.
• Blended Virtual Program (BVP) - Teachers in the BVP will communicate instructional schedules with their students and begin instruction at 9:30 AM.

Schools will be contacting families to ensure appropriate connectivity to access teachers and lessons.

Zoom Meeting is a virtual meeting space used for our upcoming events and classes. By clicking a simple link, you can join a live video session to interact with teachers and other parents, share your screen, and participate in group discussions just like you would in person.

Schoology is our online learning management system that brings the classroom to your computer. It allows students to submit work and participate in discussions, while giving parents a 'window into the classroom' to track progress and view school announcements in real-time.

Attendance will be recorded for all students during the virtual day. To be marked present, students must participate in instructional activities, which include logging into Zoom sessions, accessing Schoology, or completing assigned tasks. In accordance with our current policies and regulations, students are permitted to make up any work missed during the virtual day. Ultimately, the completion of work is what determines a student’s attendance status; therefore, students who complete physical learning packets rather than logging in virtually should return their completed work to school to be marked present.
