Quinn’s Courageous Kids Award

Last week we joined Chief Runnels, Corporal Plummer and K9 Quinn with the Klein ISD Police Department to present an award to a Brilliant Bronco!

Victoria Marquez Chourio was presented Quinn’s Courageous Kids Award, which celebrates students who show courage when things get challenging.

She was recognized for showing courage every day in the classroom. As a student in the Dual Language program, she works hard to learn and communicate in English. Even when it’s not easy, she raises her hand, speaks up, and tries her best in front of her classmates. That takes real bravery! She also has a kind heart. She is always ready to help her classmates, shows respect to her teachers, and does the right thing. She is a wonderful role model for others.

Congrats Victoria!

You are often the first and last face our students see, and you play such an important role in setting the tone for a great day.

We are so grateful for your dedication, patience, and commitment to our students and families. Thank you for all you do for our Bronco community!

Submissions Due Today!

We are excited to announce auditions for Brill’s 17th Annual Talent Show which takes place during the last week of school. If your child is interested in auditioning, please read over this information before submitting an audition.

It is extremely important for parents and guardians to know what their child will be auditioning on and that it reflects our school and district policies. This means we will not tolerate any disrespectful/inappropriate language, revealing clothing, or inappropriate behavior to be displayed in front of the school student body.

Students will be judged by a panel on preparedness, originality, stage presence, creativity, and overall performance using a required rubric. Singing acts must utilize a karaoke soundtrack without lead singer vocals, in addition lyrics should be memorized. The only acts that may utilize a song in its original format are dances and skits. Submissions need to be sent via google form with an audition video uploaded and a song file with the performers’ music track if using one.

Groups need to only submit one google form per audition. Students are limited to participating in a maximum of ONE act. Due to the high number of performers, students are limited to participate in one solo or group act. The only exception would be if the student is also performing with a homeroom class or Bronco Chorale - in that case students may participate in both. For example, a student may perform in BOTH Bronco Chorale and a separate group or individual act. Acts must be 2 minutes or less.

Audition Google Forms must be completed and submitted by Sunday May 3, 2026 11:00 PM. Any audition forms submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed. No exceptions. Once submitted, google will send you a copy of your response. That copy will serve as a confirmation that we have received your audition form. If you do not receive a confirmation, then we have not received your submitted audition.

You and your child will be responsible for making sure the video submission is appropriate and finalized before emailing it in for judging. If chosen, the items that were used in your video should be the same items your child will use on the actual day of the talent show. This includes props, costumes (if applicable), instruments and music. Students that use props MUST be able to manage their own props as they enter the stage for their performance. We encourage students that want to use props to keep it to a minimum.

**There will be a sound system available for the day of the talent show, however you will need to provide the music for the performance by uploading it into the audition google form. A keyboard will also be provided for students who are performing a piano solo. Students that use props will be responsible for the props by themself the day of talent show and no parents will be allowed on stage.

********PLEASE UNDERSTAND, if your child’s act is selected for the Brill talent show, there will be NO rehearsal or practice. The Brill stage will be UNAVAILABLE to schedule for rehearsals. Please DO NOT contact the Brill administration requesting access to the stage. The stage will NOT be available to store props or any items until the day of the show.

If you have any questions or concerns about Brill’s Talent Show, feel free to contact our principal, Mrs. Hodge at 832.484.6150 or ehodge1@kleinisd.net.

Campus Wide Positive Behavior Incentives: May 15th- Popsicles in the Park

Here at Brill Elementary, we have worked hard this school year to teach our expectations through the Bronco 5: Kindness, Communication, Integrity, Self-Control, and Respect and acknowledge positive behavior when we see it. One of the ways that we accomplish that is by hosting grade level PBIS events approximately every 9 weeks. These are incentives that every student has the opportunity to participate in if they meet the criteria. Criteria is given to students 6 weeks prior to each event and repeated through daily announcements. It is the responsibility of the student to meet the criteria in order to be able to participate. If a student does not meet the full criteria, they are still allowed to participate in a portion of the event. If a student has an office referral during that 6 week period for physical contact, threatening statements, or more than 1 referral for any reason, they then forfeit the opportunity to participate in that event and instead are involved in a grade level restorative lesson so that they better understand how to maintain the criteria for the next incentive.

Dear Parents,

  • We are incentivizing for students based on behaviors and academics through our school wide matrix of the Bronco 5.
  • Students get the opportunity to earn Bronco Bucks based on Kindness, Respect, Communication, Self Control, & Integrity.
  • Students must complete assignments and not have any office referrals for physical contact or threatening statements in order to participate. Students with other referrals may have partial time for the incentive.
  • We will have school wide incentives on May 15th – Popsicles on the Playground for students to earn.
  • Please remind students of school expectations through our Bronco 5.

Classroom Food Treats- 2 Weeks

Please note that any classroom food treats that are brought to campus must be cleared by the nurse two weeks prior to serving the students. The clinic will need an ingredient list sent to them with the child's homeroom so that they may screen it for allergies. You may also order a treat through cafeteria by visiting Klein's Food Service. Thank you for understanding. If you would like to bring something sooner, we recommend non-food items such as pencils or stickers.

Dress Code Reminders:

When Back to School shopping please keep our dress code in mind:

  • Students should not wear any clothing or accessories that are distracting, disruptive, or disturbing. For example, outfits that are too short, revealing, or depict inappropriate images.

  • Appropriate footwear is required, no slippers are allowed. Closed toed shoes are recommended for recess and PE.

  • Hats or head coverings may not be worn at school.

  • Sunglasses may not be worn inside the building.

Personal Electronic Communication Device Reminders:

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to make sure our families are informed regarding a new state law, House Bill 1481, that was recently passed by the Texas Legislature.

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, this new state law prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the instructional day while on school grounds. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, and any other device capable of digital or telecommunication.

What This Means for Our Students
Students may bring personal communication devices to school, but they must be turned off, out of sight, and stored away in their backpack, pocket, laptop sleeve, or other personal belongings while on school grounds from the first bell to the end of the instructional day, including during class, passing periods, lunch, and recess.

The law requires disciplinary consequences for the use of personal communication devices during the instructional day while on school grounds. Exceptions are provided for students covered under a Section 504 plan or an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that includes personal communication devices as an accommodation. Access will be permitted as outlined in their individual plans.

Communication and Support
The majority of our schools implemented similar personal communication device expectations for students last school year and found that their students were less distracted, resulting in more focused learning environments and increased positive face-to-face interactions for students and staff.

Prior to the first day of school, we encourage you to discuss this new Texas law with your children and emphasize the importance of focusing on learning throughout the school day. School leadership will also communicate to students the expectations and consequences for failing to keep personal communication devices off and out of sight when they return to school.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to ensure a positive, safe, and focused learning environment for all students.

Attendance Procedures

Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

Did you know you can now report an absence in Skyward? Click HERE for more information.

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to submit in Skyward one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):

  • Parent Note
  • Message through Parent Skyward account
  • Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
  • Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
  • Court note
  • Official note for observance of approved religious holy days

New this Year:

The front office is only able to submit Doctors Notes for absences. All other absences must be logged by the parent through Skwyard.

Bronco Five

As we begin this year with a continued focus on safe and disciplined schools, I want to remind all our families about Klein ISD’s student behavior expectations. It takes staff, students, and families working together to promote the good behavior we expect to see in our school.

Klein ISD has a Student Code of Conduct to promote a safe and disciplined learning environment for every student that will be strictly enforced on our campus. Therefore, please review with your family these standards of conduct along with the disciplinary consequences for infractions.

We take great pride in creating safe learning environments for our students and staff members. The overwhelming majority of our students are model citizens. We expect every student to take responsibility for contributing to a positive school environment, and we will not tolerate disruptive or disrespectful behavior. Our administrators and staff members are committed to actively monitoring hallways and restroom areas to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and I ask you, as parents, to partner with us by speaking with your children about appropriate behavioral expectations to ensure a positive learning environment in our school.

I also encourage you to take a look at our Keep Klein Safe website (https://kleinisd.net/keepkleinsafe). If you or your child see or hear something that is a safety concern, it’s critical that you report it. Our Klein ISD Police Department is here 24/7 to keep our students, staff, and community safe and take these reports seriously. Additionally, our school administration is here to serve and support students and they are available anytime during the school day to answer questions and support all efforts for student safety and success.

Thank you for your partnership and for working with us to help every student achieve success and find their purpose.

Note from the Nurse:

Student Illness:

As cold, strep and flu season progresses, we are in that time of year when many students are coming down with upper respiratory symptoms. These include nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, and possibly fever.

Please be aware that Klein ISD requires that students be excluded from school for a fever of 100.0 or higher and they may not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact the student is in the contagious period of an illness and may be spreading the illness, like the flu, to others by coughing, sneezing, and touching surfaces.

While we value student attendance, it is important everyone plays their part in keeping the spread of illness to a minimum by following this rule. Please also make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date with the Registrar so that you can be reached in the event your child is ill and must be picked up from school.

NEW Medication Guidelines:

If your child will need a medication while at school, there has been a change to Klein ISD procedures. Medications will need a written order by a licensed healthcare provider. Clinic staff will not be able to use the prescription label as proof of the written medical order, as in the past. The licensed healthcare provider can use the Klein ISD Medication Authorization form, an action plan, or a letter from their office to provide their signed consent. If you have any questions, please contact our school clinic.

Also please contact the clinic for any student needing an action plan.

Ex. Action plans may include the following:

  • Asthma
  • Allergy to foods
  • Diabetes
  • Seizures
