Welcome Back to Our Students, Staff, and Families:

I hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for a successful 2025! As we begin the new year, we also enter the season where severe weather events—such as snow, ice, or extreme cold—could potentially impact our school schedule.

To ensure everyone stays informed, here’s what you need to know about weather-related school closures:

School Closing Information

If Nippersink SD 2 or Richmond-Burton CHSD 157 needs to cancel school due to extreme weather, we will notify families through multiple channels:

• Phone Call, Text Message, and Email: Please ensure your contact information is current in Skyward to avoid delays in receiving emergency notifications.

• District Websites: Updates will also be posted promptly on our district websites.

Whenever possible, we aim to announce school closures the evening before to give families time to make childcare arrangements. However, there are instances when decisions must be made early in the morning.

Snow Day Policy

If schools are closed due to weather, no remote learning will take place. Instead, we will add the missed day to the end of the school calendar to make up for the closure.

Safety for our students and staff is something we take very seriously here at NMS. Please talk to your children about the seriousness of making threatening comments regarding students, staff, or the school. No comments will be handled as a joke here at Nippersink Middle School and law enforcement will be contacted if comments are made or shared on social media.
