Dear Parsons Families,

We have had lots of fun with our Crazy Hair Day, Hat Day, and Dress Like Your Favorite Teacher/Coach Day! Monday is PJ day so we will have a cozy start to the week!

Our infamous Trunk or Treat is Tuesday, October 28th from 6:00-7:30! It is so fun and we can't wait to see everyone there! Students are allowed to wear masks at Trunk or Treat, just not the Halloween Parade. If you can donate an extra bag of candy to our Trunk or Treat, we would appreciate it! We run out every year!

Sincerely,

Sarah Aherne

Elementary Football Attendance Expectations Elementary Football Attendance Expectations

In Gibraltar, we take great pride in our school spirit and fan participation. Elementary students are encouraged to attend sporting events. That being said, ALL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT for admission to varsity football games. The adult accompanying the elementary student(s) is responsible for their behavior and well-being throughout the duration of the sporting event, as well as transportation home after the event.

We fully expect our students to demonstrate appropriate behavior while attending CHS events. Hanging out under the bleachers, engaging in horseplay, hanging on the poles that support the bleachers, and throwing things off the back of the stadium are all behaviors we have unfortunately seen our younger fans taking part in. Younger students are expected to sit with their adult in the stands. Not only are these dangerous, but they also do not display the Marauder Pride that we build our reputation upon, and are known for. Please know that we want and encourage our young Marauders to cheer on the CHS football team, but we must ensure that the environments on both sides of the stadium are positive and safe, and that our elementary school Marauder fans are well supervised.

Please review the general expectations for our elementary students:

Varsity Spectator Guidelines:

  • Elementary school students will not be permitted into the stadium without a responsible accompanying adult and ticket. The expectation for students is to act responsibly and with respect throughout the entire game.

  • Students need to be seated in the stands or standing/walking to/from the concession area

  • No pickup football games anywhere within the stadium

  • No hanging out beneath bleachers or hanging from the bleacher support poles

  • Nothing should be thrown from the bleachers

  • No running anywhere within the stadium

  • No backpacks

  • No cups or outside drinks

Working together we can ensure that this is a fun and positive activity for students and adult spectators at all of our games.

Early Morning Drop Off Early Morning Drop Off

Please be reminded that students should not be left unattended before school. We love to see students biking to school and playing on the playground but there must be parent supervision if they are arriving earlier than 8:33 am.

Halloween Parade Halloween Parade

Our Parsons Halloween Parade is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on October 31st. Halloween falls on a half day this year so parties will start after the parade. Dismissal is 11:55 am.

Classes may need volunteer help for parties. If your child’s teacher needs assistance, they’ll reach out directly. You must have a background check on file by Friday, October 24th to volunteer.

We can’t wait to see our Parsons families lining the neighborhood parade route to cheer on our Pirates — it’s always one of our favorite traditions of the year!

A Few Additional Details:

-Please take pictures, wave, and support your child throughout the parade route. We ask that all students stay on the route throughout the entire duration of the parade. We ask that students do not leave the route or their class for picture opportunities.

-Please have your child wear their costume to school for Halloween. Students should be able to use the bathroom independently while wearing their costumes.

-Please choose a costume that does not reflect violence. Inappropriate “props” such as Dracula's blood, plastic swords, guns, knives, and weapons of any kind are not allowed, even if they are attached to your child’s costume. Please save them for supervised activities at home.

-No costume masks will be allowed to be worn DURING THE PARADE. We will be away from the school building, and teachers need to easily be able to talk to a student by name, in a costume and mask that will be too difficult. Students CAN bring their masks to school, which can be worn during the day at the classroom teacher's discretion. Students will not wear masks to recess or gym.

- Students can wear costume makeup to school, but we encourage families to keep school Halloween costumes as simple as possible. Again, students will wear this all day.

-If it is raining, the parade will be canceled, and students will celebrate with their classroom's Halloween plan.

If you have any plans to sign your child out on Thursday, please communicate that directly with your child's teacher so they can prepare. This can be a very busy time, and we want to be as organized as possible.
