Weekly Newsletter 3/13/26
Hello and happy Friday!
Spring came for a few days early in the week and everyone was very excited. The snow melted, the ground dried up and the shorts even came out. And then, as is always the case, winter returned. We have officially swapped snow fort building for kickball at recess, though, and the extra daylight after dinner reminds us that spring is not too far off.
We're getting very excited for our artist in residency with Circus Smirkus the week after next. Students will have five days of circus skills instruction with a real circus performer, and we'll celebrate the fun and hard work in an all school performance on Friday afternoon, 3/27.
Don't forget the Little Caesars fundraiser which ends this coming Wednesday the 18th. And I hope to see you at BINGO Night tonight!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend,
Tracey
The Week in Photos
Recess took a major shift this week away from snow pants and snow forts and towards kickball games and shorts!
The fourth graders did a science experiment on erosion this week. They're studying natural disasters and the impact they have on our waterways and land.
We enjoyed a visit from a small group of MUMS band and chorus students on Wednesday for the first annual MUMS Roadshow. The students and their teachers and administrators met with the fifth graders after the performance to answer questions about MUMS and what to expect next year.

Vacant ACSD Board Seat
There is currently one open seat on the ACSD Board for a representative living in Middlebury. If you live in Middlebury and are interested in serving on the ACSD Board, please send a letter of interest to Board Chair, Steve Cash, at scash@acsdvt.org by March 20, 2026. If you know a Middlebury resident who would make a great Board representative, encourage them to reach out to scash@acsdvt.org. The Board plans to appoint someone to fill this seat at the March 23rd meeting of the ACSD Board. Read the full Notice of Board Vacancy here.
The ACSD Board’s mission is to provide high-quality, equitable, and varied learning environments that inspire a passion for learning and growth among our students. Board members represent the interests of all students in the district, not just the town in which they live.
The IB PYP Exhibition: A journey of Inquiry!
We are thrilled to announce the start of the IB PYP Exhibition for our 5th grade students. This is a monumental milestone in our student’s elementary education—a "capstone" project that celebrates everything they have learned during their time in the Primary Years Program. Exhibition is a student-led, collaborative inquiry process. Students identify a real-world issue they are passionate about, conduct research, and take meaningful action to make a difference.
5th grade families will receive a longer email with more details, but our entire ACSD community can support our students: 1) If you know a student involved in Exhibition ask them what they are discovering and how it affects our world! 2) If you want to be a mentor or offer your real-world expertise for students whose topic relates to your work, contact your principal or Brandi Corbett, PYP Coordinator, bcorbett@acsdvt.org
