Thank you Francestown Fire Department and Emergency Responders
On Tuesday, October 7, our elementary students visited the Francestown Fire Department to honor Fire Prevention week. Our fire and emergency responders created an informative and engaging set of activities for students, learning about fire safety and how to plan for emergencies. These activities included modeling how fire staff use specific equipment for fire rescue while keeping themselves safe, dropping and rolling practice and touring the fire trucks! That seemed to be the favorite part besides the special snack and goodies the staff had planned for each student. Everything was a hands-on adventure! We had a wonderful visit and all the students left with a smile and the important information they need to protect themselves and help family stay safe.
A special note...We would like to share as a school family community how much we appreciate our fire department and emergency responders in our small town. Chief Kullgren, First Deputy Chief Kevin Holdridge and all the staff that are prepared for every emergency every day which brings peace of mind for our families living in Francestown and the surrounding area. We can't say thank you enough for all you do for us and we are dropping off some special student made cards to show you how much you are appreciated. Thank you!

Lions Vision Screening
Students in Grades K-4 were welcomed by the Lions Club as they conducted their yearly free vision screening. We appreciate the support and students had fun while they participated in a vision screening test. All of them that participated came back with stickers and smiles. It was a fun way to ensure our students have the vision to read well and have the appropriate eyewear that meets their needs. Thank you Lions Club for your support! Please remember that the Lions Club also supports recycling of eyewear so donations help everyone. Thank you!
Bus Safety
All students that ride to school or home on a bus practiced bus evacuations this week. Our bus drivers guided the students in the procedure of evacuation and safety protocols which included locating the exits in the bus in multiple places, being quiet and aware of bus driver directions to hear safety information and how to fully exit the bus safely in an emergency. Thank you to our amazing bus drivers for keeping our students safe coming and leaving FES!
Grade 1-2 Activities of the Week
Grade 1/2 had a fantastic week! It was filled with some great learning experiences! We started off with Cornucopia with a scavenger hunt for edible plant seeds, followed by a trip to the fire department and expanded our knowledge about fire safety. We ended the week with a visit with students from ConVal High School. They helped us with a science art project about fall trees and why they change color! It was a fun-filled week of learning and new experiences!
