You should receive transportation information directly from Red Clay Transportation office.

If you need to update or change your daycare information the easiest way to do this is to email Shortlidge secretary, Tara Williams at taran.williams@redclay.k12.de.us

Please note that all bus riders, car riders, and walkers will be guided by a staff member into the building.

8:45 a.m.- Walker - Car rider drop-off begins. All students enter through the cafeteria doors.

3:45 p.m.- Walker - Car rider and bus rider dismissal begins.

• Kdg dismisses from the back entrance near the playground
• 1st grade dismisses from the gym door on entrance
• 2nd grade dismisses from the cafeteria doors

9:05 a.m.- Instructional day begins.

Students are considered tardy after 9:05 a.m.

4:00- 4:05 p.m.- Buses depart.

The staff at Shortlidge maximize the instructional time during the day. We ask that you limit late arrivals and early dismissals. Students are considered late after 9:05 a.m.. While early dismissals are discouraged, the latest time that early dismissals will be honored is 3:15 p.m..

Please note that due to safety reasons, families are not able to walk their child into the classroom. We will ensure that a staff member accompanies all kindergarten students and those new to Shortlige directly to their classrooms.

The WheresTheBus app allows families to follow your child's bus before it arrives at the assigned stop. The app also allows parents to see in real-time where the bus is and when their student checked in on the bus and off of the bus.

Signing up is free, and takes less than 5 minutes.

1. Open the Parents Section (on the Left).
2. Click Set Up Free Account
3. Chose "Red Clay Consolidated School District"
4. Enter Information (The "Student ID" is the 6 digit number they use for lunch)-Kindergarten families you will receive this number the first week of school as it will be included on the data card you receive).
5. Once Completed, you will receive a email to download the app.

The appearance of all students should reflect pride and respect for self and for school. All Shortlidge Academy scholars must comply with our school’s Uniform Dress Code Policy.

Navy Blue, or Light Blue Shirt:

• Shirts must have collars and sleeves.

• Acceptable shirts include polo shirts and button down shirts.

• Any items with designs or writing are not permitted.

Outerwear:

• Navy blue cardigan

• V-neck or crew neck sweaters.

• Sweater vests may be worn over collared shirts.

• No hooded sweatshirts.

Students at Shortlidge Academy will continue to be eligible to receive breakfast and lunch for the 2024-2025 school year at NO CHARGE through a federally funded program, CEP (Community Eligibility Provision). Families are NOT required to complete any applications or forms. Students enrolled at Shortlidge Academy are automatically eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no charge while at school. This is not the case at all Red Clay Schools.

It is very important to read through our Family Handbook! It is full of information about our school and may answer questions that you have about the routines, procedures and expectations at our school!
