DKHS WEEKLYNEWSLETTER"Do A Job"

May 16, 2025 May 16, 2025

All about the seniors right now as we get ready to honor the Class of 2025. Graduation is this Thursday, the 22nd, at 5 PM for DKAC and 7 PM for DKHS. I would like to invite the entire DK community to come and support both groups of students.

This week, we had our Decision Day Breakfast, Grad Walk, and Senior Tribute. The senior class has received scholarship offers totaling $3,274,787.00. We have kids with nearly full rides to Purdue, UM, GVSU, WMU, and many others. I’m so proud of the effort of this group, and the things they have right in front of them are very exciting. I think we can feel some K-12 pride in having our kids ready and prepared for life after high school.

We could never fully thank the families, organizations, businesses, and individuals who shower such generosity on our graduates each year. $127,000 from our own DKEF this year. There are so many local people who have established scholarships to honor family members, co-workers, and past business owners. THANK YOU !!! We appreciate you and honor those for whom many of these scholarships have been named.

Our athletes are busy trying to make up games with weather cancellations, and are preparing for end of the end-of-the-year League, District, and Regional play. There is a good chance we will have kids who qualify and will be participating in MHSAA State Finals events. 3 from the track teams are headed to State. Kylie Main, Landon Madden, and Nick Muday have all qualified for the MHSAA Finals.

Our theatre group put on 3 nights of a play titled Larceny & Old Lace, and are a very talented group. The leadership of our new DK Alum Directors, Nicole Krzebietke & Noelle Vroegop, has been impressive.

Our FFA Group organized and led an all-school campus-wide cleanup with a variety of landscaping, general cleaning, trash pick up, and painting projects. Special Shout Out to Stu Bassett for his work and sharing on this and other grounds-related improvements. New trees in several places. Thanks Stu!!

AP testing finished this week, and we had a total of 76 tests taken. Now we wait to see how many scored high enough to earn college credit. Love when our kids pursue rigor and chase after challenges.

Once again, Congratulations to the DK Class of 2025. YOU DID A JOB!!!!

Campus Clean Up Campus Clean Up

Students participated in a campus beautification event to help prepare for the graduation of the Class of 2025! From mulching and painting to weeding garden beds, their hard work and dedication made our high school shine. Thanks to their efforts, we have a beautiful space to celebrate our seniors and show our Panther pride. #GoPanthers!

What Good Is Your Thumb? What Good Is Your Thumb?

Students explored adaptations and evolution, discovering the human thumb's vital role! Through tasks like writing and buttoning shirts with free hands versus taped thumbs, they timed the difference—revealing how we often overlook what we have until it’s gone.

Agricultural Awareness Day Agricultural Awareness Day

FFA members joined Barry County Farm Bureau at the Barry County Fair for Agricultural Awareness Day! Six FFA students guided 3rd graders through engaging stations, exploring Maple Syrup Production, Electricity, Food Production, Livestock, and more—sparking excitement about agriculture!
