Dear Owens Elementary Community,
October is here, and the beginning of the school year is behind us. We're now focused on ensuring our students meet their academic and social-emotional goals. Our instructional teams have been working diligently and collaborating with district departments to provide top-quality learning opportunities for all our Jackrabbits. We are seeing an increase in discipline referrals, and need your help and support to remind our students of our school expectations. Owens Elementary is a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) campus. Our PBIS acronym is HOP. Each letter has its own meaning: Hardworking, Ownership, and Polite. Please take the time to review this with your student, ask them to share examples of what HOP looks like in the classroom, cafeteria, or even on the school bus. I have included a picture below to help you when you review it with your child.
Working together, we will not only decrease discipline referrals but also increase our academic progress simultaneously. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if there's anything that we can do to support your student with his or her goals.

Estimada comunidad de la escuela primaria Owens,
Octubre ya está aquí y el comienzo del año escolar ha quedado atrás. Ahora estamos avanzando en el año escolar para garantizar que nuestros alumnos alcancen sus metas académicas y socioemocionales. Nuestros equipos docentes han estado trabajando diligentemente y colaborando con los departamentos del distrito para brindar oportunidades de aprendizaje de la más alta calidad a todos nuestros Jackrabbits. Estamos observando un aumento en las infracciones disciplinarias y necesitamos su ayuda y apoyo para recordarles a nuestros alumnos las expectativas de nuestra escuela. La escuela primaria Owens es un campus PBIS (Intervenciones y apoyos conductuales positivos). Nuestro acrónimo PBIS es HOP. Cada letra tiene su propio significado: Hardworking (trabajador), Ownership (responsabilidad) y Polite (educado). Por favor, tómese el tiempo de revisar esto con su estudiante, pídale que comparta ejemplos de cómo se ve HOP en el salón de clases, la cafetería o incluso en el autobús escolar. He incluido una imagen a continuación para ayudarle cuando lo revise con su hijo.

Owens requires a handwritten note for any change of transportation. The note should state the student's full name, the date, the new mode of transportation, the date for the change to occur, and have the signature of the legal guardian.
There are two ways to change transportation:
- Send a note in your student's backpack in the morning.
- Drop off a note at the front desk.
ALL requests for transportation changes must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. to make a change for the same day. For the safety of our students, no over-the-phone changes can be accepted.
Owens requiere una nota escrita a mano para cualquier cambio en el transporte. La nota debe indicar el nombre completo del estudiante, la fecha, el nuevo medio de transporte, la fecha en que se producirá el cambio y la firma del tutor legal.
Hay dos formas de cambiar el transporte:
- Envíe una nota en la mochila de su hijo por la mañana.
- Entregar una nota en la recepción.
TODAS las solicitudes de cambios en el transporte deben presentarse antes de las 3:00 p. m. para que el cambio se haga efectivo el mismo día.
Por la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, no se aceptan cambios por teléfono.
SEATING
Seating is limited for visitors. You may only sit
with your child at the visitor's table.
Your child's friends must remain with the teacher.
FOOD
Parents can only provide food for their personal child. Other children should eat what their parents sent them or from the cafeteria. Once lunch ends, your child should throw away what they have not eaten. Please do not send them back to class with sodas, etc.
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE
Please remain in the front office until 5 minutes before your child starts lunch. This helps with congestion at the visitor table. When your child's class leaves the cafeteria, it is time for your child to rejoin his/her class. Please turn in your "visitor sticker" to the front office when you depart.
Owens Elementary has a lost and found cart that is located in the cafeteria. Please have your child check for their lost items. If your child has left something in the hallway, in the cafeteria, or outside, it will be placed in the lost and found cart.
Students can go through the lost and found cart when permitted by their teacher.
Items that are not picked up by the end of each semester will be donated to a local charity.
MORNING ARRIVAL;
We open our front doors at 8:20 AM. If you drop your child off before 8:20 AM, there will be no supervision. Students are allowed to enter the building at 8:20 AM ONLY IF an adult is on duty. Instruction begins at 8:45 AM. Please help us begin instruction on time by allowing your child to ride the school bus or by dropping them off in time to walk to class and be in their seat ready to learn by 8:45 AM.
Students who are car riders and walkers/bikers who arrive after 8:45 AM will be counted tardy.
Students who are tardy must be brought into the building by an adult to be signed in.
LLEGADA MATUTINA;
Las puertas se abren a las 8:20 AM. No habrá supervisión antes de las 8:20 AM. Los estudiantes podrán entrar al edificio a las 8:20 AM SOLAMENTE si hay un adulto supervisando. La hora de instrucción comienza a las 8:45 AM. Por favor ayúdenos a comenzar la hora de clase a tiempo trayendo su hijo(a) a tiempo en coche, autobús o caminando. Estudiantes que vienen en auto, caminando o en bicicleta que lleguen después de las 8:45 AM recibirán una tardanza.
Estudiantes que llegan tarde tendrán que entrar a la oficina acompañados por un adulto.
