Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Neubert Families,

Your student should have received a Greater Elgin Dental Clinic Informational flyer and consent form from their classroom teacher on Friday, April 10th. This information is for a school-based dental clinic that will be coming to NES on April 20 and 22nd. This is a completely free program that offers a dental screening and does cover the required kindergarten and second grade dental exam form requirement. There is no treatment offered at this screening clinic. All children are eligible to participate in this free program and if you have any questions, you are welcome to reach out to Nurse Frank at katherine.frank@d300.org. Please submit your completed form(s) by Wednesday, April 15.

This is the last week to provide your input towards Neubert's new mission and vision! A school’s mission defines our purpose—why we exist and what we strive to accomplish each day—while our vision describes what we hope to become as a school community in the future. Together, they guide our decisions and ensure we are working toward a shared direction for all students. Please view the Mission & Vision section below and respond to the prompts—your voice is incredibly important in shaping the future of Neubert. Don't forget, families will also have the opportunity to vote on final mission and vision statements during Literacy Night on April 23. Thank you for your continued partnership!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home.

Your Partner in Education,

Ms. Nicole Bryan, Principal
Neubert Elementary School

April: Autism Acceptance Month April: Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month! At Neubert, we are ensuring that our practices are as supportive and affirming as possible. This month we will be focusing not only on Autism Acceptance, but also Autism Appreciation. By using the vocabulary Acceptance and Appreciation, we shift the narrative toward recognizing the value, strengths, and contributions of Autistic individuals. Autistic people may communicate, learn, experience their senses, feel emotions, and interact with others a bit differently than people who are not Autistic. However our brains work, we all matter and have something incredible to offer! This month, students will be exploring our sensory/motor, communication, and social/emotional differences by participating in a "Walk in My Shoes Experience" during the week of April 13. Remember, it is our differences that make us extraordinary! Families, if you are interested in learning more about Autism, please feel free to explore this website or browse this inclusive book list.

April: Arab American Heritage Month April: Arab American Heritage Month

April is Arab American Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans to our communities and country. It is also an opportunity for families to learn more about the diverse traditions, languages, foods, and stories that make up Arab American culture. By engaging in meaningful conversations and experiences at home, we can continue to build understanding, appreciation, and respect for all cultures.

Families can honor Arab American Heritage Month in a variety of simple and meaningful ways:

  • Read a children’s book that features Arab American characters or is written by an Arab American author
  • Explore traditional foods by cooking or trying a new recipe together (such as hummus, falafel, or pita bread)
  • Listen to Arabic music or watch a family-friendly video that highlights Arab culture
  • Learn a few words or phrases in Arabic and practice using them together
  • Talk as a family about the importance of diversity, inclusion, and respecting different cultures
  • Create art inspired by traditional Arab patterns or designs
  • Research and share stories about notable Arab American leaders, artists, scientists, or athletes

By taking part in these activities, families can help foster curiosity, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for the many cultures that make up our community.

Lost and Found Lost and Found

Updated 03/30/26

Our Lost & Found is officially bursting at the seams! We’ve got jackets, hoodies, snow pants, LOTS of hats and gloves… and even some lonely gloves still searching for their missing match 👀🧤 If your child has been “missing” something, chances are it’s hanging out here waiting to be rescued!

To help lost items make a quicker reunion in the future, we encourage families to write students’ names on their belongings. A name goes a long way in helping us return items faster. Thank you for helping keep our Lost & Found from growing! 😊

  • Monday, 4/13: Celebrate our growing understanding and empathy by wearing mismatched shoes or socks to school!
  • Tuesday, 4/14: All brains are different, and that’s amazing! Celebrate your unique mind by wearing a fun hat!
  • Wednesday, 4/15: No matter how you express yourself, your message matters! Wear shirts with words/messages OR visuals/symbols to celebrate the many ways we communicate and connect with one another.
  • Thursday, 4/16: The Autistic community uses a gold or rainbow infinity symbol to highlight neurodiversity, acceptance, and infinite potential. Show your support for Autistic people in our school and community by wearing gold, rainbow/tie-dye, or an Autism acceptance shirt!
  • Friday, 4/17: Autistic people often have sensory sensitivities that can make some clothing feel very uncomfortable. Today, wear your most comfy clothes or pajamas so you can feel good all day!
