I hope you all had a relaxing and restful spring break! It's great to have Beth back at Ralph Richardson Center. I feel like the school is in good hands while I recover. My recovery is going well!
Thank you to those learning partners who were able to give input into our future remodel. For those of you who were unable to attend, I have attached the PowerPoint that was shared that evening, and slide 29 shows how the priorities were received by our audience. If you have further information that you would like me to share with the architects to consider with this process, please email those ideas/concerns to me so that I may share with them. It feels like this remodel is moving forward which is super exciting to me. I feel that Ralph has been deserving of this update for a very long time.
Also, on behalf of our PTA, I wanted to thank our families for supporting our recent Panda Express and See's Candy Fundraisers. We see these fundraisers as an easy way to raise funds for our fun school activities that support our students and staff.
Speaking of fun activities, April 20-24 will be our I Am Week. This is a week where we take the time to recognize how special our students are and have merrymaking in the process.
April 20: Students will begin by reading The Rabbit Listens and discussing the attributes of this text
April 21: Crazy Hair/Hat day
April 22: Complete an Earth Day planting project
April 23: Classrooms will be creating character trait posters
April 24: Bubble party and we encourage students to wear their Ralph Richardson shirts.
That evening, from 5:00 - 7:00 School Dance, sponsored by El Camino's Student Government Class
M.O.V.E. Moment
M.O.V.E. stands for Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience and is a San Juan sponsored activity-based program designed to teach children with severe disabilities the functional motor skills needed to sit, stand, and walk as independently as possible. We have students and staff working very hard on this every day!
Meet Deryion! Deryion has been learning to use his gait trainer again after a significant surgery. He is learning to walk and tolerate bearing weight on his feet again, without pain! He is doing a fantastic job and gives lots of smiles along the way. Great work Deryion, we are so proud of you. Keep it up!
