The mission of Holy Rosary School is to help each child discover and fully develop their God-given talents. As a Catholic School community, we strive for excellence in our students’ spiritual, academic, physical, mental, aesthetic, and social-emotional growth. zoom_out_map

Dear Holy Rosary Families,

I cannot believe we've arrived at the last day of school! Time has flown by in June. Tomorrow we will celebrate our last school Mass of the year and school will dismiss after Mass. Report cards will be handed out tomorrow as well. We ask all students who have not graduated to be present with us for Mass tomorrow, as a number of special things happen at the end of the school year Mass. It is also very important we end the year as we began, united in Christ through the Mass. Student dress is "dress your best." All families are welcome to join us as well! Also, just a reminder there is NO BASE after dismissal tomorrow.

I want to express my deepest thanks for the partnership of our families this year. We are one community, united in Christ and in one another. We could not do what we do as a school without our incredible school families. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I wish you all a blessed and relaxing summer. The office will remain open through June 28th, with slightly shortened hours. We will run eFC messages through June. I hope to see many of you at our final farewell to Father Oakland on June 23rd at 4:00 pm. Food and fun provided!

I will see you very soon! In the meantime, I can be of any help or service to your family, please don't hesitate to reach out.

In Christ,

Anna

Faith At Home

Feast of St Anthony of Padua – June 13, 2024

St. Anthony was revered for his masterful preaching, knowledge of Scripture, and love of the poor. But he’s best known as a finder of lost items. As the school year ends and the summer comes, we can find ourselves in a laxer home life. Remember as you are looking around your home for sunscreen, shoes, or swimsuits, you can always pray to St Anthony! “Tony,Tony, look around; something’s lost and can’t be found!”

Honor Roll

Congratulations to our 8th grader Honor Roll student.

Learning Games For Summer

Holy Rosary School received a number of learning games that incorporate math or reading. We have been using them at school for a number of purposes, but have many that are still unopened. We'd like to share them with families to help keep kids engaged in learning activities during the summer. They will be out on tables in front of the school today at dismissal. Please help yourselves!

Gator Gear

If you placed an order for Gator Gear in May, they are available for pick up in the school office.

School Office Summer Hours

The school office will be open from 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday in June. If you need to pick something up from the office and cannot come in during our open hours, email office@holyrosaryws.org.

We will be closed for the month of July and part of August. During that time, emails and voicemails will be checked periodically. Have a wonderful summer.

Classroom Supplies & Comfort Kits

Student classroom supplies have been ordered. A fee of $50 per student will be charged via SchoolAdmin on the 10th of September. Please note there are a few items we are still asking families to provide. Click here for details. Students should bring comfort kits to their classrooms on the first day of school.

Visit Paper Boat Booksellers June 11-16 for the sale. Remember to say 'Holy Rosary School' at checkout. They are located at 6040 California AVE SE, Ste A, (206) 743-8283. This is a great way to support both the school and a local West Seattle business.

Parents Club Coffee Hour

Save The Date! Tuesday September 3rd, we will have a coffee hour after you drop you kids off at their classroom. Meet new parents! Reconnect with friends after a fun summer!

Action Items Action Items

Address Change

Please remember to notify the office of any address, phone or email changes in order to have the most up-to-date information in our school directory for next year.

Soup Kitchen Need Donations

As many of you know, Holy Rosary operates a Soup Kitchen that provides soup to a local Catholic men's shelter, St.Martin DePores. Currently our first graders bring in items that are used to make up a large part of our soups. The Soup KItchen's budget is very small, therefore the first graders' contributions play a HUGE part. As the Soup Kitchen is a year round endeavor and as the school year comes to an end so does our assistance from those first graders. To help us in getting through the summer months we are reaching out and asking families to bring in canned goods to school TODAY.

Thank you all for your support, what a blessing these contributions have made!

Things we would appreciate:

Any kind of canned tomatoes: paste, stewed, whole, etc

Canned vegetables

Canned or dried beans

Any kind of broth or bouillon

Fresh onions

Fresh carrots

Fresh celery

Herbs

Summer Math & Reading Challenge

It's almost summer, which means time for fun and relaxation! Students also have the opportunity to keep their math and reading skills sharp by participating in the summer math and reading challenges. Students should fill out and record their time as the summer progresses and be ready to turn it in during the first week back at school. It will be due on Friday, Sept. 6th! Both the summer math and reading challenges are optional.

Students will receive these forms before the end of the year from their homeroom teacher, but it is also attached here if you'd like to print at home.

If you have old Halloween costumes that are in good condition, please consider donating to the Parent's Club. We are planning a silent auction at the back-to-school coffee next year to help raise some money for the Room Parent's class party fund. Please drop off donations at the main office. We will collect them until the end of the year. Thanks in advance!

Girls Robotics Team

Looking for 6th and 7th Grade Girls interested in participating in The First Lego League Challenge next year. Participants must be willing to commit to weekly meetings starting in September and be available to attend the competition held the first week of December. Space is limited. If your daughter is interested, contact Corrie at corrietomlinson@hotmail.com.

BASE

We wanted to share that BASE for the 2024-25 School year is very full after completing the re-enrollment period for current BASE families.

Knowing that there is a great need in our community for before- and- after school care, we invite families to get on the BASE Wait List. Our hope is that there might be some movement over the next few months and BASE could accommodate some families who are still in need of care for the next school year.

Please complete the application form to get on the Waitlist: https://forms.gle/4dmmtenmZu5CyiEd7

Auction

A Night at the Derby was a record-setting event! Expenses are still coming in, but the event raised over $380,000. Between ticket sales and the online auction all expected expenses were covered. The $125 ticket price covers the meal, alcohol, venue, lighting, A/V, sound and decorations. In the coming weeks a survey will be sent to all 2024 auction guests, please answer the questions. This will help the auction committee make decisions over the summer so we are ready for our kickoff meeting in September.

Save the date for Saturday, March 8 for our largest fundraiser. Watch the efc for additional information on the Auction.

All of the above events will have multiple volunteer shifts available and they will be publicized in the efc in the weeks leading up to the event.

Vacation Bible Camp

Vacation Bible Camp is a wonderful week of activities for kids around the theme. “SCUBA: Diving into Friendship with God.” Kids meet from 9-noon and participate in singing fun songs, teamwork-building games, one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, testing out sciency-fun experiments that get imagination bubbling, and much more! At Our Lady of Guadalupe’s VBC, we make it very camp-like. Children are all part of a crew with a teen leader. They meet as a whole group and then go to activity stations with their crew. They build friendships and have lots of fun all while learning more about God!
