Dear Families,
A lovely, slightly soggy and changeable week. Last Friday there were primo snow conditions for play. This week bare, wet ground. Soccer returned! Jackets are off! Please remember to send in full rain gear. The wet conditions will be around for a while.
Reminders:
- March 3-27 - Spring conference window. Watch for a sign-up for these from your child’s teacher.
Thursday, March 19, 6:00-7:00 - Act 1 informational meeting for K-5 parents. More information linked here. Act 1 is a Vermont law that requires students in each grade to receive education on personal safety and sexual violence prevention. Beginning March 20, Jackson Goscha will be providing this training to the three classrooms.
March 20 there is no school to accommodate for most conferences.
Families are invited to attend the informational meeting with Jackson and myself March 19. The training is most effective for children when parents have an opportunity to learn and ask questions about the vocabulary and skills the students are learning. Childcare and pizza will be provided. Please RSVP
April 1-17 - Weybridge VTCAP state testing window for grade 3-5. 4th/5th grade window is scheduled for April 1-9; Grade 3 window, April 7-14. We hope to have all assessments completed by April 17. A more detailed schedule will be posted next week. Please avoid making doctor’s appointments during these testing windows as it is complex to reschedule them. Thanks.
Lunch help: We’re all set for next week! Please sign up directly on the March/April lunch calendar for days in the future. Thanks so much.
Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).

The IB PYP Exhibition: A journey of Inquiry!
We are thrilled to announce the start of the IB PYP Exhibition for our 4/5th grade students. This is a monumental milestone in our student’s elementary education—a "capstone" project that celebrates everything they have learned during their time in the Primary Years Program. Exhibition is a student-led, collaborative inquiry process. Students identify a real-world issue they are passionate about, conduct research, and take meaningful action to make a difference.
4/5th grade families will receive a longer email with more details, but our entire ACSD community can support our students: 1) If you know a student involved in Exhibition ask them what they are discovering and how it affects our world! 2) If you want to be a mentor or offer your real-world expertise for students whose topic relates to your work, contact your principal or Brandi Corbett, PYP Coordinator, bcorbett@acsdvt.org
Students are happily back to playing soccer again at WES
Vacant ACSD Board Seat
There is currently one open seat on the ACSD Board for a representative living in Middlebury. If you live in Middlebury and are interested in serving on the ACSD Board, please send a letter of interest to Board Chair, Steve Cash, at scash@acsdvt.org by March 20, 2026. If you know a Middlebury resident who would make a great Board representative, encourage them to reach out to scash@acsdvt.org. The Board plans to appoint someone to fill this seat at the March 23rd meeting of the ACSD Board. Read the full Notice of Board Vacancy here.
The ACSD Board’s mission is to provide high-quality, equitable, and varied learning environments that inspire a passion for learning and growth among our students. Board members represent the interests of all students in the district, not just the town in which they live.
