Hands-On Budgeting Lesson

The Middle School Life Skills classes recently enjoyed a hands-on lesson in budgeting as part of their personal finance unit. Students explored the importance of managing money through a fun, interactive simulation, using Smarties as their “income.” Along the way, they faced unexpected life circumstances and learned how thoughtful budgeting can help navigate real-world challenges. It was a sweet way to build practical skills they’ll use for years to come!

Freshman Parent Night

High school counselors and administration recently hosted the annual Freshman Parent Night: Navigating High School, where families learned more about graduation requirements, course scheduling, and the personal and social aspects of the high school experience. The evening concluded with a raffle featuring three $25 gift certificates to the Catz Corner, the WUHS school store. Congratulations to our three lucky future freshmen winners!

Recreating Jamestown Settlement

Fourth graders at Pine Street Elementary wrapped up their study of Blood on the River and celebrated with a fun, hands-on learning experience. On Monday, January 26th, students brought history to life by recreating the Jamestown settlement using edible building materials like pretzels, cereal, and crackers. This creative project helped students better understand the layout of the settlement while encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.

Shared Reading

Mrs. Nykerk’s class has been doing an outstanding job during Shared Reading. Students have been reading A-Z Mysteries: The Kidnapped King and have shown strong engagement through partner reading and thoughtful written responses. Their hard work and collaboration are really paying off!
