Bwana Iguana Assembly

We are excited to announce that Bwana Iguana was here on Monday for a full school assembly.

It was a great show, there were many reptiles running around and I may have hid in my office for an hour or so...

A special thank you to The Feinstein Foundation for providing this assembly free of charge to our students!

Message from our School Nurse

Dear Families:

If your family members have not gotten their flu vaccinations yet, it is a good time to do it now. The beginning of flu season is here, and we do not want anyone to get sick!

Safety from the flu isn’t immediate, however. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and for you to become protected. It’s possible for someone to get the shot and then catch the flu before immunity kicks in. But you will never get the flu because of the shot. The vaccine is made with a dead virus.

The flu is most threatening to the very young, the elderly, and people with underlying illnesses or medical conditions. However, the illness can cause severe symptoms in people of any age. Even healthy children and adults are at risk of complications from the flu.

You’re not just getting the flu shot for yourself but also for everyone around you. As more people get vaccinated, it becomes less likely that influenza spreads. This concept is called "herd immunity." You can’t pass along a virus if you never get it yourself.

Please get your flu vaccine to reduce the spread and keep us a healthy school!

Thank you!

Nurse Sargent

Feinstein Junior Scholars

We are once again partnering with the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation. Your child will be bringing home a Feinstein card that gives them access to many activities throughout Southern New England. Some include free admission to Mystic Aquarium and the Providence Children's Museum. They have also just added the Asian American Pacific Islander History Museum to the list!
