Claws Out Cafe'

Claws Out Cafe' will open Aug. 21st!!

We are looking forward to serving you this year. Why not open August 9th, you ask? We have a new staff that will need to be trained on all things Cafe'. Bear with us for a week and we will be sure to give you the best we have to offer beginning August 21st.

Our menu and pricing are as follows:

Coffee - $2.00*

Pack of 2 Cookies - $1.00

Lemonade - $1.00

Ice - $1.00**

*This includes brewed coffee and individual pods plus 2 additional add ons (example: cream, sugar substitution, etc). Any additional needs will be an additional $.25 per item.

**Free if you have your own standard size cup. Large water bottles/containers will not be allowed due to small amount of ice available.

If you visited the cafe last year, then you will notice one big change. We will be serving you this year at the Cafe'. You will first place your order and pay, then our Cafe' Baristas will complete your order and serve you. Be patient with us all as we all learn this new process.

Things to refresh your memory about...

  1. Cafe' will not be open when you arrive for school each day. We will open at 9:00am daily.
  2. Cafe' will close daily after break and will not open back up until 6th period.
  3. Cash/CC/Apple pay are all accepted. Please remember that if paying with a card/apple pay you will be charged $1 extra per item ordered by the program we use to run the cards. This is not an addition charge that our library benefits from. Using cash is definatley the cheaper option.

Our Cafe' was a great addition last year to our Learning Commons. I am looking forward to seeing it continue to grow and give back to our space in so many ways! Thank you all for supporting the Claws Out Cafe'!

New Color

This summer, Principal Tucker graciously updated the LC with a new and perfect color scheme! I am amazed at how the color has changed the look of our LC. This step of our transformation was a huge task. Please help me take care of our freshly painted walls. I love to advertise and decorate for clubs, meetings, and special occassions. Please first ask myself or an LC aide for the correct means of placing something on the wall/windows before using your own tape/glue etc. We do have many more plans to come that have me so excited! As I told you all last year, it will be a slow but fun progression. I hope you will enjoy being a part of it just as much as I am!

One last thing, I am so thankful for Principal Tucker's, Mr. Nelson's, and Coach Chappel's support in the transformation of our LC! Turning this space into a true Learning Commons takes a willingness to step into the unknown and trust that it will turn out GREAT for our students. Make sure you send a big Thank You to all your administrators for their support in creating a space specifically for you and your needs!

New Books

This summer I purchase 200 new titles for our library stacks! These titles include new graphic novels, hot new fiction series, murder mysteries, updated copies of Classics, award winning titles, cookbooks and more!!!!

This is just the beginning of book magic for our Library! I am always taking suggestions of "good reads" to purchase for our collection. Please use this form to send in suggestions. Be prepared to give a review of the book !

Check back next month for our Feature of the Month!

One quick reminder, please don't forget to sign in when you enter the LC. This sign in book is a way for me to help you. It gives me an idea of who comes in during the day and what the purpose of the visit is for. It also is an easy way for me to verify your visit when a teacher ask me if you came into the library.

New Makerspace

The new installation of our Cricut Maker Machine and accessories is now available for you to use. The following guidelines apply:

Go to Cricut.com and create your own account using your personal email. Using this account, you can design a project.

You can then come to the LC, log on to your account either using one of our computers or your Cricut App on your phone and use our Cricut and supplies to create your design.

The Cricut Maker will operate on a first come/first serve basis. Check with Mrs. Brewer or the LC Aides if you have questions about use. If you do not have your own account, you can use a generic account that has been created for the SSHS LC.

We do have a heat press! Oh yes, you can make t-shirts, bags, etc... However, the LC will NOT provide the t-shirt or bag. We do have a limited supply of paper and vynl opitons for you to use. Make sure you check out our selection and if you don't see what you need, be sure to bring it with you when you come.

Check It Out!

Open the link below and enjoy a Virtual Relaxation Room! Once it opens, click around in the photo and explore all it has to offer! My personal favorite in this room is the piano and the ball on the shelf! Go check it out and let me know what your favorite is!
