Students and parents, please remember that students CANNOT dismiss themselves early from school. Parents must sign students out for any type of early dismissal. Student should bring a signed note from a parent to Mrs. Hughes in the front office. Mrs. Hughes will issue the student a pass to leave class at the appropriate time. Please do not call the school to dismiss your student, unless it is an emergency.

Students will not be permitted to leave any classrooms early with only their own verbal communication to the teacher that they are supposed to leave/be dismissed. This is especially relevant to early dismissals during fourth block. Again, students cannot dismiss themselves from school nor sign themselves out.

Engineering students from A.C. Flora participated in the Student Field Study: Engineering Day at Midlands Technical College Northeast Campus last Friday.

Throughout the day, 11th and 12th grade students had the opportunity to visit multiple program areas where they learned about admission requirements, program expectations, coursework, and potential career opportunities within each field.

A highlight of the day was the hands-on engineering challenges. Students worked in competitive small groups to complete instant engineering design tasks that tested their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Avery Thompson, Rohan Bremer, and Hayden Hall were recognized as winners for their team’s Architectural Tower challenge. See photos below.

On Saturday, February 28th, 21 students attended the South Carolina State Championship for Science Olympiad. Team A scored in the top 10 with Josh Lavigne and Dhruv Gupta placing 5th in Engineering CAD, and Zoe Phillips and Josh Lavigne placing 5th in Helicopter. Team B members Emmy Barhydt and Kyran Burkett (see photo below) placed 2nd in state with their helicopter design. Congratulations to all students who competed this weekend!

Over the weekend of February 26-28, five AC Flora DECA students traveled to North Charleston to participate and compete in the SC DECA state conference. Please see photos below.

During the awards ceremony on Saturday, three AC Flora seniors were recognized for their performance:

Neeshan Syed and Harris Bradley earned 3rd place in the state in the Financial Services Team Decision Making event, also qualifying them for ICDC.

Carter Levens placed in the top 10 in the state in the Restaurant and Food Service Management Series. Congratulations to these students!

ICDC (DECA International Career Development Conference) is April 25-28 in Atlanta.

Students enrolled in English 2, Biology, and US History should make note of the dates for End of Course exams listed below.

Each year, the Counseling Office asks the Senior class to complete two forms prior to the end of the year:

1. The Class of 2026 AC Flora Senior Scholarship Form tells the counseling department and the school district how much scholarship money you were offered from colleges and universities. You need to report ALL money received, even to schools you do not plan to attend. You should fill out this form each time you receive a new scholarship offer. This form can be completed multiple times so that you can add additional scholarships when they are received.

2. The Class of 2026 Senior Post-High School Information Sheet tells us what your plans are for next year.
