📣 Thursday is Family Time @ Wright
I am looking forward to another FABULOUS week of learning at MHW. We have a lot going on this week and I hope you will be able to join us. We are focusing on teaching perseverance this year.
Perseverance is the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. Many of our students give up or do not try before seeking help. They need to work on being independent and not give up so quickly when working on complex tasks.
So if your child comes home and says the teacher would not help them, that is untrue. We want them to try first before providing help. We teach them that mistakes are learning opportunities. We are finding that our students shut down when they can't do an assignment or get isomething wrong. We need to encourage them to persevere and continue to try. You will find ways to help below. Thanks for your help with this.

Our 2nd graders will perform a Thanks-Singing Concert on Thursday at 1:00. Everyone is invited.

Let your child know that it is okay to make mistakes!
1- Model perseverance yourself by demonstrating commitment to tasks despite difficulties
2- Set achievable challenges for your child
3- Encourage positive self-talk
4-Praise effort over immediate success
5-Allow them to try to solve problems on their own before stepping in to rescue them
