FROM DOAN'S DESK....
Thank you to everyone for coming to our “Back to School Night” on Monday. We were overwhelmed by the attendance of so many in our community as the parking lot was filled beyond capacity, hallways were full during passing periods, and overall engagement was great.
Our ribbon cutting was a showcase of how about 80% of our projects are complete and being used by teachers and students every day. We will continue to finish some projects throughout the fall, and then go through another round of renovations next summer. The campus is looking great, and we are very proud of everything that is happening at Monarch.
It has been a great start to the year, and we are looking forward to everything that lies ahead for the 2025-2026 school year.

Congratulations to Stella Wilkinson!
Stella Wilkinson (Jr), was awarded a full scholarship to study Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan this past summer through NSLI-Y (National Security Language Initiate for Youth). Please read the press release below:
Louisville Student to Travel to Taiwan to Participate in U.S. Department of State's National Security Language Initiative for Youth Program
Stella Wilkinson of Louisville, Colorado, will study Chinese (Mandarin) this summer in Taiwan on a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI‐Y) scholarship. NSLI‐Y, a program of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), promotes the study of Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian (Tajiki), Russian, or Turkish.
Stella was one of 440 students selected from thousands of high school applicants across the United States to receive a NSLI‐Y scholarship. While in Taiwan, Stella will live with a host family, immerse in the local culture and host community, and engage with local peers to enhance language learning, and represent American culture as a citizen ambassador.
Launched in 2006 as part of a multi-agency U.S. Government initiative, NSLI‐Y increases the number of young Americans with the critical language skills necessary to contribute to U.S national security and economic competitiveness.
Many NSLI‐Y alumni go on to pursue education and careers vital to U.S national security and credit the program experience with helping them improve their cross-cultural communication and leadership skills.
NSLI‐Y is administered by American Councils for International Education in cooperation with AFS‐USA, American Cultural Exchange Service, Amideast, iEARN‐USA, Stony Brook University, and the University of Delaware.
Applications for NSLI‐Y programs are available at www.nsliforyouth.org each fall.
The U.S. Department of State provides additional study abroad opportunities for both American and international high school students. Americans can welcome a new language and culture into their home by hosting an international exchange student, which is a life-changing experience for students, host families, schools, and communities.

Free Dental Care
Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a nonprofit organization that hosts a large-scale, two-day free dental clinic in a different Colorado community each year. Since 2007, COMOM has served more than 20,000 patients and provided over $18 million in donated dental services.
The clinics are open to anyone in need and are held in large venues—such as schools or event centers—that they transform into fully functional, 125-chair dental facilities. Over two days, patients receive cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, dentures, and ceramic crowns—all at no cost. This effort is made possible through the support of nearly 200 volunteer dentists, along with hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, healthcare professionals, and hundreds of community volunteers. Beyond relieving pain, they restore oral health and appearance—helping patients regain confidence, dignity, and even employment opportunities.
This year, the clinic will be held in Loveland at The Ranch on October 17–18. They expect to serve more than 1,600 patients with the help of over 2,000 volunteers. Because of Loveland’s proximity, this could be a valuable resource for many BVSD students and families.

Cuidado Dental Gratuito

Advocacy Training Program for Parents and Caregivers
Standing Up, Speaking Out is a free, three-part advocacy training program for parents and caregivers of K–8 students who identify as Jewish. Developed by ADL in partnership with the Boulder JCC and Jewish Family Services, this pilot initiative equips families with the tools, knowledge, and community support needed to address antisemitism in schools and advocate for more inclusive learning environments.
Grounded in research from ADL’s Center for Antisemitism Research (CAR), the course covers identity affirmation, how to respond to bias incidents, engagement with school policies, and effective communication strategies with educators and school officials. Participants will gain practical skills such as writing advocacy letters, speaking at board meetings, and promoting Jewish inclusion in curriculum and culture—all while connecting with a network of families in the community.
This is a three part program and participants are requested to participate in all three sessions.
Wednesday, August 27 and September 9 | 6:30 - 8 pm | FREE
