RES Sunday Message
Week of September 14, 2026
Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Regular school attendance helps students build strong academic habits, stay connected with their friends, and feel confident in their learning. Throughout the month, we’ll be celebrating why attendance matters with fun activities and incentives, while encouraging every Roadrunner to make being at school each day a priority. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child show up, learn, grow, and succeed!
Student Experience Survey
In November, our 4th and 5th graders will soon be taking the Student Experience Survey (previously referred to as the Sense of Belonging Survey). This survey helps us better understand our students' perspectives and continually improve our school community and environment.
If you would like to opt your child out of taking this survey, please reach out to our School Counselor, Erin Shively, eshively@glnd.k12.va.us
No Photograph List
Our school, the school division, news media and community partners regularly photograph and tape events, activities and success stories at schools. If you do not want your child's image or name used in publications or other media, you must notify me in writing. You may send an email to me at sburnham@glnd.k12.va.us
*Even if you have indicated this in PowerSchool, please email as well so we can confirm the information stored in PowerSchool is accurate. Thank you!

What's New at Randolph?
Girls on the Run
We’re excited to offer Girls on the Run again this year! This is an inspiring program designed for girls in grades 3–5 that combines physical activity with lessons that build confidence, friendships, teamwork, and positive life skills. Girls will train together while learning to be strong, kind, and confident both on and off the track. The program meets twice a week at Randolph on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30–3:45 p.m. The season begins September 16 and concludes with a celebratory 5K run on November 22. We look forward to encouraging our girls as they grow, connect, and accomplish this exciting goal together!

My Child Is Absent! What do I do?
We are launching a new method to report student absences. Please complete the Attendance Form if your child is sick and will not be attending school. You no longer need to call or email the office with this information. It is still helpful for you to inform your child's teacher via email of their absence.
