Notes from the Principal:

  • CHISD has added a Voter-Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to the November 7th Ballot. Please click here to learn amore information about the proposed VATRE and important voter registration guidelines and deadlines.
  • To address the needs of our scholars that ultimately impact their feelings of security and safety, we are hosting 2 different opportunities Monday, November 6th. During the school day, we will have an in-person assembly for girls and boys featuring guest speakers to address decision making and solving conflict with others. That same evening on November 6th, we are hosting a digital parent university to discuss cyberbullying.
  • Fall picture day is this Tuesday, November 7th. This is a standard dress day for scholars so all scholars must be in standard CHISD dress code. This is the picture that will be used for the yearbook this year. Pictures will be taken through the scholars' social studies classes.
  • Please encourage your scholar to make the most of every school day and work to finish strong academically, socially with their interaction with their peers and with their attendance.
  • Please be sure to touch base with your scholar's teachers to keep current on their academic progress as well as important deadlines and other academic activities.
  • Please encourage your scholar to let a school counselor or administrator know if they are having conflict with others. Some of our scholars are making unhealthy choices to resolve problems and it is resulting in unsafe practices. We want our school to have a productive teaching and learning environment. Please partner with us to help make this happen.
  • Please make note that all middle school scholars must wear their ID badges to all CHISD athletic functions and be accompanied by their parents/guardians. This does not include one adult accompanying different scholars that they do not serve as their parent/guardian.
  • If your scholar started the school year with an unnatural hair color (blue, pink, bright red, orange, etc.) their grace period expired October 5th. All hair color must now be within CHISD dress code or consequences will be applied. We have started this process after weeks of grace and there still seems to be much confusion. Please be sure to read the dress code carefully so we are all on one accord.
  • There has been a revision to our standard of dress for scholars each week. Please make note of the change regarding Fridays. Scholars can now wear college/university tops on Fridays with jeans as another option beyond CHISD spirit attire.
  • Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.
  • It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement.

Faithfully,

Dr. Lemons
