โ What is TPRS? Is it the same as TAPR?
The Texas Performance Reporting System (TPRS) integrates state and federal reporting requirements into a single reporting system that can be viewed at the campus, district, region, and state level. As the most comprehensive reporting system published by TEA, TPRS provides additional performance reports, results, and indicators for student groups not previously reported on state accountability data tables, the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), or the School Report Card. TPRS is the enhanced online version of TAPR. It has been recently updated with Remote vs. In-Person Data. TEAL Accountability application will show you unmasked data.
The TPRS Glossary provides definitions, describes methodologies, and lists sources for each tab in the TPRS system.
Update District Contacts in AskTed
Please remember to update AskTED with any changes for the 2022-2023 school year.
Check to make sure you have a DTC and an Accountability contact in AskTED and that they are current. Only 40% of Region 10 districts have someone listed for the Accountability district contact.
TEA, Student Assessment, Performance Reporting, and the ESC use these lists to relay important information to districts.

ACCOUNTABILITY Spotlight
This Week in Performance Reporting Oct. 28
Whatโs New in Performance Reporting
AโF Accountability
The Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) fall submission due date for districts is December 8, 2022.
As the fall submission deadline approaches, it is a good time for districts to review local data submission procedures to confirm clean and accurate data are submitted during the fall collection. After the PEIMS resubmission window closes, these data are considered final, and additional corrections are not accepted. Accurate and timely data are the cornerstone of a fair and reliable accountability system. As such, Performance Reporting staff has made targeted efforts to stress the importance of quality PEIMS data submissions. PEIMS data are used throughout the AโF accountability system and in numerous reports produced by Performance Reporting.
2023 Accountability Development
Notes and presentation materials from the October 7th Texas Accountability Advisory Group (TAAG) meeting are now posted on the 2023 Accountability Development page. TEA shares TAAG materials to increase transparency and the availability of public information regarding the development of the 2023 accountability system. TAAG proposals may be used to surface new ideas and get feedback from committee members. Finalized methodologies will be published with the release of the 2023 Accountability Manual in Spring 2023.
Local Accountability System
Now is the perfect time to explore the local accountability system and how your district can develop a plan using your existing priorities and data! Districts may use the 2022โ23 school year to develop a plan for approval and application to 2023 accountability year or develop a plan for application to the 2023โ24 school year.
Districts wishing to learn more about the local accountability system and how to develop a district local accountability plan can participate in a 45-minute overview webinar with time for Q & A.

Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR)
TFAR is a free, optional platform used by educators to create, administer, analyze, and share formative assessments. Teachers will be able to analyze the results of these formative assessments to help inform instructional choices such as making immediate lesson plan adjustments or providing specific interventions for students at the level of individual standards.
TFAR is meant to supplement and support existing LEA resources and formative assessment practices. Assessments created in TFAR should be combined with a broader set of classroom formative practices that are part of a coherent instructional framework.
Additionally, formative assessments from select, high quality instructional materials (HQIM) with an open education license will be available to administer through the same online test administration system as assessments created using TFAR. Assessments from math and RLA curricula, grades K-5, will be prioritized, and other, select curriculaโs assessments will be released on a rolling basis. More information about which HQIM productsโ tests will be available in the online system and the release dates of these tests will be available in the fall.
STAAR Redesign 2022-2023
โ How will a student qualify for a paper test?
TELPAS Spotlight
Redesign of TELPAS Reading and Writing
Based on input from educators, the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) reading and writing domains will be combined in an online test for students in grades 2โ12 this year.
Because of this new standardized version of a writing assessment, districts will no longer need to holistically rate writing samples for students in grades 2โ12.
Students in kindergarten and grade 1 will continue to be holistically rated in all four language domainsโlistening, speaking, reading, and writing.

ADVANCED ACADEMICS Spotlight
There is a verification process in TEAL for the SAT and ACT college preparation assessment reimbursements. This verification process has occurred in November/December in the past.
Here is past TEA communication:
TEA will release the ACT/SAT testing data to districts in TEAL for districts to review, verify and submit for reimbursement. The person responsible for this project must have Accountability-level access in TEAL. Only the Superintendent can grant this level of access in TEAL.
In the TEAL application, districts will need to review the following four categories:
- School Day โ Matched: This link is an Excel file that districts may download, review and keep for record-retention. TEA assumes that if a student tested in the school day environment, the district paid for the cost of the exam at the state-negotiated rate and is eligible for reimbursement. *
- *Since the School Day โ Matched students are automatically considered for reimbursement, districts whose students did take a school day assessment but did not pay for their students must opt out. This is not needed for districts that want to be reimbursed for national day students.
- National Day โ Matched: This link provides access to an application where districts SELECT the students for whom the district paid and who tested on a national testing day. Districts must ADD the 10-Digit Student ID. To be eligible for reimbursement, districts must identify students and verify the district paid for the cost of the exam.
- School Day/National Day โ Unmatched: This link provides access to an application where districts SELECT the students for whom the district paid and who tested on a national or school testing day. Districts must ADD the 10-Digit Student ID. To be eligible for reimbursement, districts must identify students and verify the district paid for the cost of the exam.
- Not Represented: Any student for whom the district paid for an assessment and is not found in any of the above categories. The district will have the opportunity to submit the student for a reimbursement request while the TEAL application is open.
